Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Expect? No idea, especially considering the surprises from last January's direct. Want? More info on X and Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. But I get the feeling a lot of people are expecting a huge Nintendo Direct this month. Is it just because there was a huge one last January? I don't think people should be assuming there is going to be one, it could just lead to disappointments.

Release dates and trailers of games before E3, trailers for X, SMT x FE, Smash, a new game announcement and/or teaser, and done. It'll be titled "Wii U Direct" like last year.....if they do have one this time.

A bomb.

I'm expecting pretty much nothing so unless something totally awful happens, I'll almost definitely be extremely pleased with the Nintendo Direct, even if it all it has is release dates and more Donkey Kong footage.

A new Metroid game would make me flip a shit and then some though. As would X clips, Smash clips, SMT x FE info, or anything Mother/Star Fox/F-Zero related for Wii U. If it's Zelda or Mario, I'll just nod and go on with my life unphazoned... I mean unphased.

If there's anything I've learned, it's not to expect anything. Sometimes Nintendo delivers when you don't expect it, but they never deliver when you do. The simple fact that there's excitement surrounding this month's ND means it will be a huge letdown. Mark my words.

And if I have to start predicting, I'll say we'll get an even worse one in February, and then we'll randomly be amazed by the one in March, which will be only on the third or fourth day of the month instead of the middle.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

I'm expecting:
Release dates for Mario Kart, DK, and Bayonetta
Formal announce for x, launch quarter
Something on SMTxFE
Please understand on Yarn Yoshi

What do I expect from the next Nintendo Direct?

Mostly, more of people declaring that Nintendo is doomed because they showed more Mario, or because they didn't show more Mario, or because they revealed another crossover, or because they didn't reveal another crossover, or because they had no new IPs, or because they didn't show enough of their classic IPs, or because they focused on first-party games, or because they focused on third-party games, or because some of the games the showed off were already confirmed for other systems, or because none of the games confirmed for other systems were revealed to be coming to the Wii U, or because the games were too "casual", or because there was nothing to bring in the "casuals", or because Nintendo spent time talking about sales, or because Nintendo completely ignored sales, or because Nintendo apologised for delaying a game, or because Nintendo had games coming too quickly (and thus must have been rushed), or because they spent 5 minutes on a game that was already released, or because they completely ignored all of the games they'd already released, or because they announced a price cut (clearly they're too desperate), or because they didn't announce a price cut (no way the system can sell at this price), or because they're depending on Pokemon too much, or because they didn't announce more Pokemon, or because they spent too much time talking about Smash, or because they didn't spend enough time talking about Smash, or because they revealed too little, or because they revealed too much and couldn't possibly have anything left for E3, or because they spent time talking about 3DS games, or because they didn't spend time talking about 3DS games, or because they mentioned some little mobile game they're releasing, or because they refuse to release things to mobile gaming, but mostly because people like to revel in the idea that Nintendo is doomed, for some reason.

As for the contents of the Direct itself, I predict one new IP revelation (from Nintendo), a couple of major third-party title reveals (probably the third Sonic title (I'm betting Mario x Sonic) and whatever that unannounced third-party exclusive mentioned by NicoWave is), dates for Mario Kart 8 and one of their other titles (X, SMTxFE, Yarn Yoshi, etc), plus a firmer release period for Smash (probably May or June, with new trailer revealing a new character - perhaps Bomberman), plus some sort of DLC for an existing game (Hyrule in Sonic Lost World, or a new Pikmin 3 pack, or something like that), a bit of a push for Watch_Dogs Wii U, a bit of Bayonetta 2, and one new 3DS title (or perhaps the first tease of the next 3DS Pokemon title).

Another Nintendo franchise done in the style of Yarn Yoshi and Epic Yarn... There is just so much MATERIAL  to work with!
