To the OP. In that order of Ideas, how is it that Sony cannot use the same cloud computing to improve even further their games? Considering the differece in hardware it should be easy for the PS4 to push the graphics closer to a high end PC. Just my opinion.

I dont do blind faith.

Until proven otherwise its all ballony. All we have seen were the drivatars from Forza, wich have no impact on the graphics. Its more a tool of information collection.

Thats the issue, most of the people have shitty Internet connection... And on top of that, ISPs trottle up the ass, specially things that take a lot of bandwidth such as Netflix and probably Playstation Now and this thing in the future... I am not saying its not gonna be good but in order for it to work effectively, NA needs to stop sucking with its ISPs and upgrade dat infrastructure from the 1980s... Like fuck, Toyko has internet where you have to pay only $50/$60/month for 2Gbps, Canada has internet where $80/month will get you 25Mbps

No the issue is that people like you and TS don't understand what you're talking about.

It seems to be PR more then anything. Right now the cloud is good for substance in games like Drivatar in Forza 5.



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

EXACTLY, but thats the whole point, does it have to be now? if the one has 2/3 of the lifecycle of the 360 we're in 2018/2019

I base that on the idiots who keep telling me the X1 is superior because of cloud computing when the themselves don't even have a stable internet connection and refuse to regonize that the ps4 can do the same.

The thing is, the PS4 cannot just do the same.  This is the problem with most people thinking about cloud based technology.  The PS4 cannot just do cloud based processing like what MS is implementing for the X1 just like MS cannot do cloud based game streaming without the infrastructure, software and hardware that Sony is doing with Playstation Now.  It takes years to build the platform to accomplish those types of cloud based services.

The problem with most gamers is that you feel that creating such services is like turning on a switch but its not.  The cost that go with creating these platforms are in the billions and most companies have to bet one way or another.  

The reason this area favors MS is that they have built their platform which is Azure and Orleans.  Those platforms MS has invested Billions on datacenters, software, API etc.  Sony had to purchase Gaikai to even start in this space.  While Sony would have to rent space at datacenters like Rackspace and Amazon, MS already own their datacenters and have quite a bit of them around the world.  For Sony, these datacenters are a cost until Playstation now makes a profit.  MS datacenters already bring in profits so there is no pressure for the success of them implementation and thus their servers can run at cost to expand their business.

But as stated these are just advantages, it doesn't mean that Sony cannot compete, its that they will need to be smart and make sure they do not tackle more than they can chew and put themselves in the red.
