Forums - Microsoft - Lets clear up the rubbish on this site surrounding Titanfall.

It just doesn't look like a good game. Nothing we've seen and heard about it has been interesting. I don't know Selnor, you're fighting a losing battle here.

Can't you just be at peace in knowing that at leasy you will love this game no matter what? No need for this converting business.

Yeah...this cleared things up...anyways, here's my opinion on things.

1. The only the way the PC version would be "gimped" not using the cloud would be if they gimped it on purpose. Actually, I haven't seen anyone else mention this but how could they NEED the cloud for all of this stuff if they thought it was coming to the PS4 too?

http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/30/titanfall-will-not-come-to-ps4-admits-unhappy-respawn-4166444/

The Dev thought the game was coming to the PS4 right up until EA said it wasn't. On top of that even EA said that the subsequent games in the series will be multiplat. How is that possible without "the cloud"?

I suspect that MS has had more than a little bit to do with all of the devs talk about the cloud. It sounds like BS to be honest.

2. This actually seems pretty straight forward. I can't imagine it will be very in-depth, but I'm interested to see how it comes out.

3. Lets get this out of the way, the AI in TF are meant to be fodder for the players to kill. Call them what you want, but they are bots. Weak bots, but bots just the same. They are used in different and interesting ways, but the AI themselves are by definition bots.

It could come to PS4 the same way it was coming to PC and 360 but re engineered without the Cloud enhancements. Possible but with less I guess. And they never THOUGHT it was coming to PS4, they were from the very start waiting to see if Sony had a solution to the Cloud server improvements they wanted. They never even started making the PS4 version. Respawn article posted on their website on June 23rd 2013. That they approached Sony and Microsoft and requested the need for Dedicated servers and alot of them. Microsoft came back with more than that. Sony didnt have a solution for this. And MS dont have more to do with it. Its propoganda all over again.

What do you mean they never thought it was coming to the PS4? They were unhappy when they found out it wasn't coming to the PS4. Also, in that article they never mention what Sony came back with. They simply say that they contacted both companies before going on to talk about the cloud. Considering they were expecting a PS4 version somewhere down the line I think it's safe to say Sony came back with something.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

But I thought the AI wasn't supposed to replace players? You went from "much more players" to "loads of AI players" that would mean they are bots right?

Its not like COD or BF or MAG. Christ HOW many times. Of course I didnt mean Human players concerning Titanfall. And the fact that any PS fans thought that shows you guys havent followed this title at all. LOL.

Oh my god. VGC used to have intelligent people here. The cloud is being used for processing AI. How the hell did anyone think I meant Cloud Processing is gonna process Human players???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Have we all gone mad here?

Or is it agendas.

This is crazy. Apparantly people now think computer processing = more humans. Holy hell.

This thread is lost on a site this convulted.

Oh yes you're right Selnor. The Ai are weak so that means they aren't bots, how silly of me to forget.

I'd avoid opening the "agenda" can of worms if I were you Selnor. You're welcome to go down that rabbit hole if you'd like but I don't think you'll like what you find.

Whats the issue here? I dont get it. Am I missing something? What in that thread that I said contradicts anything? We know the maps are big in titanfall, And the cloud is processing loads of AI Players. I am lost as to what this guy keeps posting for? Hes proving my point!

The issue would be you making Titanfall sound like more than it really is shaping up to be.

There is no evidence that the maps will be larger than what we had on PS3, 360 and PC over the last X Years.

There is no evidence that the player count will be higher, with out without the AI Bots. 12 Players + X number of bots is nothing, when you have been able to get over 100 real players on PS3, 360 and PC over the last X Years.

You dont want last gen feeling games, yet so many games from last gen have eclipsed Titanfall on the stuff youre bragging about. The game looks fun. Lots of fun, but please stop doing this. Its the Forza 3 situation all over again. You made yourself look silly then and youre making yourself look twice as silly now with this constant bragging about things that you shouldnt be bragging about.

THIS!

Even if they're good bots, doesn't make them not bots

Are Dominique Santiago and Ellie Bots or AI Characters?

No. To me, bots is the generic term for AI characters placed into a competitive multiplayer environment.

ie. In some games there are ways you can play the multiplayer modes locally, either on your own or splitscreen. Any computer controlled characters placed into there are bots

I believe the cloud processing is and will be very beneficial for the future of Xbone. The people here dismissing the power of the cloud really doesn't understand the fact that the power difference between these consoles is huge. Without the power of the cloud the differences would be much bigger. You're getting a game with 12 people in it, some AI bots, lots of action. It wouldn't be possible on such a weak hardware otherwise.

"Titanfall is taking online shooters forward, using Cloud etc to have much larger maps, much more players and so on and so forth. I hope this doesn't feel limited after that.

I don't want last gen feeling games."

Can you update that as well Selnor????

LMFAO!

That's awkward...

Things that are facts about Titanfall.

1. PC uses Xbox Live Cloud. And cannot be used without it. Originally the PC version was going to be gimped. Found HERE. But now its 100% confirmed the PC version will use Cloud for Processing the AI, some Physics among other things found HERE

As long as we're taking out the "rubbish", for the love of GOD, can we please end this myth that the Azure "cloud" is going to be offloading in-game AI and physics processing? 'Cause it WON'T.

The MS cloud provides scalable backend servers for multiplayer (that's a very good thing by the way) and, as in the case of Forza, the cloud can collect data related to driver performance, calculate some AI parameters (outside of the game, not in real time) and then send those computed AI profiles back to your local copy of Forza so that the in-game engine running on your Xbox can adjust the AI.

The AI processing is NOT PERFORMED IN REAL-TIME BY THE CLOUD.

Also, there will be NO REAL-TIME PHYSICS PROCESSING IN THE CLOUD.

(sorry for yelling, but really, this b.s. about the cloud improving graphics and such is just ludicrous)

The cloud will be great for backend server infrastructure and for performing out-of-band (i.e. out-of-game) processing of large data sets, but it will not, in any way, shape, or form be offloading real-time graphics/physics or AI processing from the XBox GPU/CPU. That is just not possible given current technology.

Good post.  Not sure why people take a good think and try to make it even grander.  I'm just happy to know that Titanfall uses dedicated servers.

Hopefully this causes the COD to start doing the same thing ASAP, cause that lag system is inconsistent shit.  They need to quit cheaping out!

So how have PC multiplayer games been absolutely amazing without the magical power of MS cloud processing???? What do you think servers are some new fangled invention made by microsoft and given a fancy description and called cloud processing???

Christ, are we trying to set a record for use of the term BOT in this thread? You guys all sound like a bunch of whiny kids.

On topic, I am excited to see what Respawn / Titanfall offers. No doubt going to pick this one up for the X1. Hopefully it's as good as the hype and causes other franchises to offer more and more in terms of dedicated servers. How can ANYONE not view this as a good thing.

Do people even know that COD is not running on dedicated servers (on consoles)????
