Things that are facts about Titanfall.

1. PC uses Xbox Live Cloud. And cannot be used without it. Originally the PC version was going to be gimped. Found HERE. But now its 100% confirmed the PC version will use Cloud for Processing the AI, some Physics among other things found HERE

As long as we're taking out the "rubbish", for the love of GOD, can we please end this myth that the Azure "cloud" is going to be offloading in-game AI and physics processing? 'Cause it WON'T.

The MS cloud provides scalable backend servers for multiplayer (that's a very good thing by the way) and, as in the case of Forza, the cloud can collect data related to driver performance, calculate some AI parameters (outside of the game, not in real time) and then send those computed AI profiles back to your local copy of Forza so that the in-game engine running on your Xbox can adjust the AI.

The AI processing is NOT PERFORMED IN REAL-TIME BY THE CLOUD.

Also, there will be NO REAL-TIME PHYSICS PROCESSING IN THE CLOUD.

(sorry for yelling, but really, this b.s. about the cloud improving graphics and such is just ludicrous)

The cloud will be great for backend server infrastructure and for performing out-of-band (i.e. out-of-game) processing of large data sets, but it will not, in any way, shape, or form be offloading real-time graphics/physics or AI processing from the XBox GPU/CPU. That is just not possible given current technology.

Really?

Why did you leave this out?

"The Xbox group came back to us with a way for us to run all of these Titanfall dedicated servers and that lets us push games with more server CPU and higher bandwidth, which lets us have a bigger world, more physics, lots of AI, and potentially a lot more than that!"

Yeah, the devs say they're not bots but the devs are clearly wrong. Or just have some weird definition of bots

The dev said the AI is difference and not like the bots you see in others games but they are bots.

Gee golly do I believe ethomaz, Lord of Gran Turismo on the interpretation of AI, or the people who actually developed the game? Oh man this is quite the pickle I am in.

Any "played" not controlled by a human is a bot... enemies are bots.

IW is saying their bot have a AI difference from what you saw in other games... a better and differenct AI bot.

All my points are from Respawn developers. And the big paragraph in the OP is DIRECT FROM THE RESPAWN WEBSITE. WHERE IT SAYS AND CONFIRMS EVERYTHING.

1. It is not clear PC will use Azure or MS Cloud... it will use Dedicated Servers... if they are the MS Azure or not is not official yet... and the AI Bots won't be processed in the Azure/MS Cloud it will be in your PC, Xbone or 360.

2. There is no campaing... there is a Multiplaye Story mode.

3. There are AI Bots.

1. "Microsoft has a cloud service called Azure (it’s a real thing – you can go on their website right now and pay for servers and use them to run whatever you want). Microsoft realized that they could use that technology to solve our problem.

So they built this powerful system to let us create all sorts of tasks that they will run for us, and it can scale up and down automatically as players come and go. We can upload new programs for them to run and they handle the deployment for us. And they’ll host our game servers for other platforms, too! Titanfall uses the Xbox Live Cloud to run dedicated servers for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

But it’s not just for dedicated servers – Microsoft thought about our problem in a bigger way. Developers aren’t going to just want dedicated servers – they’ll have all kinds of features that need a server to do some kind of work to make games better. Look at Forza 5, which studies your driving style in order to create custom AI that behaves like you do. That’s totally different from what Titanfall uses it for, and it’s really cool! So it’s not accurate to say that the Xbox Live Cloud is simply a system for running dedicated servers – it can do a lot more than that."

2. "When you first start the game you will play campaign multiplayer, which takes the bits and pieces you're used to having in single-player, like a story and characters, and big moments that contextualise what you're doing - we're putting that into multiplayer."

" Presumably, there's vanilla multiplayer to complement the multiplayer-only campaign, though hold fire on taking that as Gospel till we hear more."

3. That means you call Ellie a bot? Or The arbiteur in Halo singleplayer? The NPC's playing with you in the campaign are set. Cannot ever be changed. Its a proper story. Not some bots you select at a screen.

IW lulz

You know exactly what Respawn is saying when they say the AI are not bots. But it is adorable watching you childishly argue semantics. So carry on.

selnor the FUD Destroyer making a triumphant return lol

but hey, ethomaz knows more about the game than the developers so cut him some slack.

NPCs are AI bots.

PS. Sorry by the IW instead Respawn... I got used to IW.

The above quote is just saying that becasuse MS is providing all the backend multiplayer servers, Respawn can build bigger mutliplayer maps (which is perfectly logical) Also, since Respawn essentially handed over all the responibility of building and maintaining the multiplayer servers to Microsoft, they (Respawn) freed up more developer time to work on the in-game physics.

NONE of that translates into "the cloud is doing real-time AI and physics processing" The cloud will NOT perform any real-time processing for the game engine running on your Xbox. The latency of even the fastest Internet connection on earth is orders of magnitute slower than the latency between the XBox's GPU/CPU and it's 8Gb of DDR3 memory. And even THAT latency (DDR3) had to be boosted with 32Mb of ESRAM to improve graphics performance. And you're suggesting that your measly residential ISP Internet connection from FiOS or whomever is going to provide better bandwidth to/from the XBox GPU/CPU than the on-board DDR3 RAM? Really?

So in the multiplayer campaign you play a certain gamemode per map, have a couple NPCs running around and are probably getting some kinda story thrown at you and that is why it's not remotely an online shooter game like COD or Battlefield?

What does it sound like to you?

"When you first start the game you will play campaign multiplayer, which takes the bits and pieces you're used to having in single-player, like a story and characters, and big moments that contextualise what you're doing - we're putting that into multiplayer."

To me it sounds like a shooter game with a some extra stuff slapped onto it. You have NPCs that are probably going to be nothing but cannon fodder and conversations with your commander or whatever to convey the story, probably cutscenes as well but at its core the game is still a multiplayer shooter, you play against other people and you have objectives you have to achieve just like in Cod or Battlefield.

I'll just wait until the game comes out. But I can't say I'm hyped tbh.
