Don't see the problem, Some of the most popular game modes in Halo were the small team modes like 4V4 In Halo 3, I rarely ever went on Big Team Battle on Halo since I much preferred the smaller ones, Also If you have a great small team they can be managed well and stick together, In large teams you could have a few rubbish people that make the team lose, You could be amazing but the rest off your team suck so you loose, 6 V 6 You at least have a chance off winning with a bad team, Smaller teams will make people work harder and stick together probably, Communicating with you Etc. and it is easier to be tactical

Comment from IGN basically summarizes what I'm trying to say and is completely true

This isn't about shoving a ton if players into a match to prove how "next gen" the game is. It's about getting the right amount of players that'll keep the game fun but still carryout their goal - a online multiplayer campaign. 6v6 sounds like a good amount to keep the game competitive, yet still fun at the same time.
Look at halo 3, game can out go up to 16 players yet it's most popular mode was 4v4, why? Cause that was the most competitive and actually required skill. Games like bf4 you can have a shit ton of caps and kills but still lose cause the rest of your 30+ team sucks. They're trying to avoid that.

Also the AI thing is something different, Idk about how many AI's they are on your team but you can hack into them to make you fight for your team but they can also be hacked back, It's something different and personally I think it sounds pretty cool and I prefer Medium-Smaller maps the most, Large maps are awesome but I don't play them much (I'm judging on what I do on Halo) and I know allot of other people who play Halo prefer smaller close quarter combat maps

I think that currently in Halo 4, Big Team Battle is more popular than Slayer.

May be sprint as defaut had something to do with it.

BTB was always the most popular playlist in H4, a first for the franchise.

I love 8v8 games, but I was expecting a lot more. At the moment I'm, disappointed.

6v6 is too small, this means the maps will have to be small aswell.

Why does it mean the maps will be small?  We have no word on how many AI bots there will be?

I don't get that logic either. Especially with how fast the players move and not to mention the Titans. The maps don't have to be tiny or anything.

Plus people forget there is wall jumping and jetpacks, so the game plays much more vertically than ever before, so that expands the map as well. Respawn has commented before about watching people play at events and they start playing it like a typical shooter just running through corridors but eventually start to realize they can run on walls and double jump and it just opens the map up much more.

12 players aint all that bad people, especially when the maps will be populated with bots too.

Call of Duty sells 20 Million a Year on 6 vs 6 matches.

6 vs 6 works well for their map size. Now it's large maps populated with bots. and a few players. And people want to bash cod for lacking skill. This will be even worst.

So amount of players = skill level? Try playing Quake 3 Arena. Skill is proven in 1v1 matches. Most skillfull PC FPSs have low player counts.

Thats not the only thing that will make this a skill less game. Just add's to it.

So you have played Titanfall? How was it?

I think the fact that there are bots subtracts from the skill factor. if your K/D for instance can be affected by killing AI, thats one player skill gaging system thrown out the door.

I don't fully agree with 1 v 1 being the ultimate skill test. some 1 v 1 players can't do much on big team. skill level ranges from game type. Some players are effective universaly while other specialize on familiarity.

K/D ratio is not an indicator of skill.

What a fail. The rumoured 64 player game matches was the sole thing pushing the X1 version over the 360. Now I bet they'll basically be the same except for the improved graphics on the X1.

Not the absolute indicator of skil but it is indeed one of the strongest indicators.

especially in the most played game mode of FPS games. TDM, it shows the person will get more points towards victory than they give up.

Going off call of duty specs mostly ofcourse though, this will be skewed by killing bots.

Naturally the stat itself isn't always a clear indication as players may, dasboard, boost or camp (not always a bad thing, depending on the objective at hand) to gain a good number. the same can be said about other stats.

Not saying taking the importance of K/d away from titan fall would make it a bad game, but the way cod has evolved over time, stats were an afterthought in cod 4 to now everyone is stat concious and K/D is the favorite. Take away the importance of the FPS fan bases favorite stat and you better have a real fun product out to make them forget about it.

I just played a game of Domination on Ghosts and my team won. The leading scorer on my team was 23-26 but he had a whopping 16 captures. The second highest scorer was like 51-16 and had 0 captures because he just camped and picked people off running by. Who is better? And in a game with such varying modes, as well as other factors such as the people you play with, how would you possibly know just by looking at such an arbitrary number?

It's irrelevant, and I hope Titanfall does include bot kills in the K/D because maybe it will end the stupid fascination people have with it. I was in another lobby earlier today trying out Search and Rescue and a couple clan mates were making fun of a dude because his 1.2 K/D was trash. It's sad.

Better stats to tell skill would be win ratio and accuracy, but even those can be wildly misleading. When I roll with my CoD friends my win ratio is probably 4:1. When I am playing solo and relying on randoms it's probably 1.5:1.

I think I was pretty specific on why and when it is important.

you played dom......cool. but the reality is the most played game type is tdm. in tdm the most important stat is k/d

in a dom match it's harder to gage who the game changers will be, for the most part it'l be the guys with the most captures, however that could mean they just played alot, while a high level of familiarity comes along with that there is always someone out there better, and perhaps they didint play so much.

Even in dom K/d can be a game changer, a well rounded team in such an objective game type won't consist of 100% flag rushers. A few slayers mixed in will shake things up and can end up supporting their team better than the captures stat can tell you. he can be the reason why his teamates were able to pad their capture stat in the 1st place.

wins is also an indicator but like you say, a high win loss usually is attached to a player that rarley plays solo, so at best you can probabaly bet that you're playing against a team when you see that stat.
