If Apple can sell you both iPhones and all their services with iTunes, then why can't Sony sell the Playstation 4 and all their ps1/ps2/ps3 games on Playstation Now ??!!
Brilliant move if you ask me.

Because people will look for bad things, how insignificant they could be, but the tiny bad things in amazing news. I see PS Now as a game changer, a good way for the 'nostalgic' people too let their kids play some of the greater ps1/2 maybe 3 games :D
This is a bad idea. Sony is gonna dilute the Playstation brand and will effectively kill the Ps3 and the PSVita for good.

A new Wii-U owner can pop in their copy of Xenoblade, and game on. A new PS4 owner (me), can launch PS Now, purchase The Last of Us while looking at their physical copy of The Last of Us and imagine what should have been.

Or you can just put it in your PS3.

Here is the difference. iTunes was always digital only. There was never a time when you could go to a store, and buy an iTunes CD. There was never a time when you could purchase Angry Birds on a disc for your iPhone, and pop it into a drive. PS1, PS2 and PS3 games all released on disc. The people who bought them, unlike iTunes customers, can't get the next piece of hardware, and have their games move with them. Their games are useless now.
When you buy an iPhone 5s? That game you bought on iPhone 4 is still there, and runs on your new phone. No need to rebuy. With PS4? They COULD let you put in the game disc you bought, and then have it unlock the streaming version...but won't. Why? Greed. We all know the drive can at least read the title because of the upgrade program. They just don't want to do it. Apple doesn't screw people like that.
That's my problem.

As opposed to just putting it into my PS4, having the laser identify it's legit, and start the stream of a game I bought?

You're acting like a little kid here, physical PS3 discs don't work in a PS4, get used to it. If you just now start to have a problem with that then you seemingly have missed a huge portion of console history, these things happen.
If you still have a PS3 then keep it, it's as easy as that, no need to make so much drama about it. See the Playstation Now service as a possibility to get older games you haven't played on any device you want for a cheaper price since you can rent them or just subscripe to the service and don't make such a fuss about a thing just because you're to lazy to just switch the hdmi input on your TV.
