FFVII is the best. After playing that i couldnt get into other FF games.

Final Fantasy VI is my favorite by far.

Most successful does not only mean sales. People like to fall on that defense but the truth of the matter is that it made the biggest impact in a positive way compared to other Final Fantasys. For instance, people still want a remake, and we have movies, animes, sequels, and prequels. Other than the fact it sold more compies than the rest, it is still in the top 10 most classic PSone download on PSN since 2009.

But nobody wanted those sequels, prequels, animes and movies in the first place. All that people wanted was a remake. 

As for your "opinion", seems like you're the "herd" type of guy. Any opinion of your own on this matter? You're trying to rationalise which game is the best based on numbers. You're not even trying to find and discuss about any of the inherent qualities found in those games. You're just spitting S-E's claims about the game and pass it as a be all end all argument. Really weak, if you ask me. It doesn't prove the game is the best. It proves it was the most popular. This topic isn't about which game was the most successful sales wise, it's about which one is the best. There's certainly no way in hell you're going to convince anyone here that because S-E said something, they should do like you, stop thinking on their own, and accept that they have to think the same as S-E.

And history is a good reminder that what is most popular isn't always what's best.

It seems you're the "Pot calling the kettle black" type of guy. And more importantly, how do you know nobody wanted those? I'm simply stating a fact against someones opinion. I prefer to show irrufutable factual evidence, and based on that you should already know what my preference is without even telling you.

Making an argument out from an opinion is pointless. You can either choose to accept that, or continue believing whatever you want, I wont ridicule you.

All you're saying is that it's the most popular--and, as I said, I don't care about popularity.  There are a million books better than Twilight that never reached a fraction of Twilight's popularity.  So what?  Popularity does not automatically equate to the best by any stretch of the imagination.

I have zero problem with someone having a different favorite game than me but using popularity as some kind of meaningful criteria?  Nuh uh.

You're putting words in my mouth. I said it is most successful. Being successful ranges in a number of different criterias, and popularity is one of them.
