I disagree.  FF9 is one of my favorites, made it to my top 50, but not including Tactics, which isn't even first in my opinion(second,) it's 6, 1, then 4 and 9 are sort of tied and my favorite between the two sort of flip flops.  Right now, FF4 is ahead.

I actually agree with that. It is a personal view. My post was meant to contradict the absolute truth the OP was forcing upon us. Logically analysing it, i still think FF7 is the best game. But, that doesnt mean i cant take other opinions. I just cant take it when they are forced on me.

I really have a hard time taking seriously everyone saying a ff After ff9 is the best.

I do accept and believe everyone naming a FF under FF9 .

This is one crime I can't overlook. FF8s card game was awful and IX took its foundation and improved on it.

While I would agree with the OPs very subjective opinion on FF7 NOT being the best, I would consider it the most overrated rpg of all time. Meaning it's not a BAD game, but it most certainly is rated/valued a BIT too highly by most these days. All it really had going for it, was FMV that took up 3 extra game discs, that for the TIME, apparently impressed the pants off of people. The game itself could have been done on one disc, or for that matter, if done right, could have been done even on an N64 cartridge.

FF9 was the best of the PS era FF games, for sure. But I would strongly disagree that that was "THE BEST" either.

To this gamer, the height of the Final Fantasy franchise was FFIV through FFVI. Then again, that 16-bit era of gaming was the prime of rpgs, I feel, anyway. FFIV-VI, Mystic Quest (unfairly derided but still fun game), Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, Phantasy Star, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana, Shining Force, Secret of Evermore, Landstalker, Beyond Oasis, Paladin's Quest, Mario RPG, etc. etc.

To me PERSONALLY, FFIV will always be the absolute best rpg ever made. Amazing story, soundtrack, characters, well-balanced gameplay, sprite-based graphics that hold up even now, you name it. FFVI was great too, but FFIV just has that "something" that made it really special to me.
