Never really felt any loyalty to any console. To me, it is only about the games. Ill generally buy a console if it has a few games that interest me, so i have ended up with pretty much every console since I was old enough to make my own money...

Been a Sony fan since 98, but I do enjoy some Microsoft and Nintendo exclusives, so I just buy every console.

Let's start with the NES. Had it and loved it.

Jumped to Genesis for unknown reasons. The last time I was a console fanboy. Loved the Genesis, despised the SNES.

Got a N64 (as a gift), didn't like it. In fact, really disliked it and the jump to 3D.

Then got a PS2, and HATED it. On top of useless 3D, now I also had to deal with story driven games and attempts to appeal to my feelings. At this point I decided to stop playing videogames, forever.

Gen 7 comes around, I got the Wii and almost instantly found the good groove from the Genesis days. The Wii drew me back into the fold.

This gen it's Wii U. I typically never go with the same company two gens in a row, but I felt Nintendo deserved it after what they did with the Wii, and I still carry a grudge from the PS2 days. I love the Wii U even more than the Wii, but I think I'll go Microsoft in gen 9 (unless the Wii U forces UNITY in the market of course)

Kinda shocking how much your beliefs mirror my own.  Even the Nintendo allegiance--no matter what Nintendo does, I'll always love them.

I've never "switched brands". I've always bought Nintendo. Then again, I've also gamed on other platforms for most of my life as well. My first ever gaming experiences were in the arcades, an Atari 2600, and a Tandy PC. The NES was my gaming bible, but I continued to love arcade games, I dabbled in Genesis/Turbo Graphx, I was all set to buy a Dreamcast until I found out the Castlevania game I so badly wanted got cancelled (because Konami and Igarashi are morons). I never did buy a Gamecube, though I played the games I really wanted at my friends' houses. I eventually did get a used PS2, and even later bought a PS3 (after I bought a Wii).

And on top of that I've continued playing games here and there on PC my entire life.

But I don't think anything would ever "make me switch" from Nintendo being my main "brand", as it were. Reason? Because I can always count on them to come out with games I enjoy playing.

Sounds like a happy end. What I would like to hear are people who switched from PS3 to X1 without going through 360 first. I heard that's a rare breed.

As for me. I got into gaming very late. I bought a N64 when the GC was already out. Then a GC when it was in its last stretches. I always admired my friend who had a PS2 with which he could play FF. That and Crash Bandicoot led me to go for PS3 as my only choice. Then of course it turned out that there was no Crash on PS3 and FF lost its esclusivity but I never looked back.  The first 3 games I played on my PS3 were FFX, X-2 and XII which would've never been possible on a 360.

My 1st Gen: S Genesis - because my parents picked it over the SNES

My 2nd Gen: N64 then PS1 - my parents probably decided against the S Saturn because of price honestly. Either way, they ignored it like most people. They got the family an N64 first and a PS1 later. N64 was my main console.

My 3rd Gen: NGC then PS2 - We just got the successors to the previous systems. I requested the NGC because of Melee and my brother wanted a PS2 because of Metal a Gear Solid. The NGC was my main console.

My 4th Gen: XB 360 then Wii then PS3 - 360 was brothers birthday gift because of Halo, The family all chipped in for the Wii, and the PS3 was a family Christmas gift. I played the Wii the most at first, then PS3 more, and recently it's been the XB so...I'd say Wii still got the most play time.

My 5th Gen: Hasn't begun yet. I might get a Wii U soon though. I was thinking about skipping it and getting one of the others first but considering Nintendo has occupied my time the most during the past 3 gens in a row, I might not resist. Plus, the library is going to grow a lot this year.

The closest thing I did to switching was when I was in my teen years and thought Nintendo was over rated and for kids.

Ouyaaaaaa! Got tired of paying $60 for a freaking video game.
