If you keep this up, you will be out of the Sony fan club!

i call things how i see them. sure, i make mistakes, i called thuway credible just the other day (i was thinking about someone else, but i was still wrong) but i am not a blind fanboy

Fans aren't allowed to criticize?! I thought that was one of the perqs you receive from the dues.

im not sure what others think. but i do criticize pretty much every company when i see they deserve it. i constantly take criticize Sony for their PS Vita support. i called their PS4 pricing in japan bullshit too for example. sure, i like sony more than the others, and like their offerings much more, so i will criticize them less due to that.

400k no problem, if they have the stocks, the overall sales of consoles will be down this gen in japan but it will all come from the wii to wii U transition I expect the ps4 to outsell the ps3 there.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I'm saying...., 500k during 1st month after launch....,and 1 million more for the rest of the year. If ps4 reach 2 million, it will be a great success IMO (ps3 didn't sell 2 mill in one year in Japan ever), but i don't think it will happen.

Anyone who is saying the PS4 won't do well in Japan is somehow missing the massive amount of exclusives-by-proxy the Playstation brand has over there. There are far too many to attempt to list.

Really, the only thing that will hold it back is the PS3, as Japanese developers are typically slow in jumping to the next generation. The PS3 will continue to sell software while the PS4 builds up a library. By the time developers have switched over to the PS4 full-time, the hardware will sell at a healthy rate.

Before anyone gets happy about the PS4 starting off slowly, this is not a Wii/Wii U situation where they kill off the predecessor. All the games will come to the PS4 eventually. It's just a matter of time. The PS4 will do well simply by virtue of having a massive amount of games.

Playstation home consoles in Japan have been contributing less and less to Sony's overall total. Peaked with PS2, PS3 will end ~10 million units which will put it ~10% of Sony's worldwide sales. 10% in a lot of areas is not that much.

What Japan inc needs to do is start to foster their main brands, games and genres to wider audience outside Japan, Take that risk so they can garner higher sales from Western markets. That seems like the no brainer thing to do.

I always found it odd that PS3 always did so well over there, since it seems to appeal far more to a Western audience and holds few popular Japanese exclusives, while Wii (currently) and Wii U struggle, when Nintendo seems to put its focus far more on a Japanese audience, and holds the more popular Japanese franchises like Mario, Wii Sports, Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, etc..

In Japan, for the most part, Nintendo is viewed as something that kids cut their teeth on. It's games and systems are the first things you play, then when you grow up, you "graduate" to Playstation. That's what I've read anyway and it would explain what you're saying since 16-25 year olds have alot more money than 5-16 year olds.

yea.. because the ps3 didn't have FINAL FANTASY XIII/GRAN TURISMO/METAL GEAR/TALES OF SERIES/BAYONETTA/DEVIL MAY CRY/STREET FIGHTER and more that really appeal to the japanese market..

I agree. It also won't do as badly as some think. "Some people" think a lot of things because even if something is totally outlandish, as long as more than one person thinks it you can say "some people" think it. I could say "some people" think Sony will buy MS this year if I found two people to agree with that statement, that doesn't make it likely nor the general opinion.
