Forums - Gaming - Rate console's performance in 2013!

Exactly what the title says. From 1 to 10, being 1 the lower and 10 superb, rate each console in 2013, being from the seven and eight generation! (Can rate PC too if you want).

Also give a few lines explaining your score.

Let's try this out!

Wii: N/A (I'm not going to comment with this one since I really don't know the angle to judge this. All I can say is that I keep having fun with it thanks to Smash Bros Brawl)

Ps3: 9/10.  Possibly the best year for the Sony console. From third-party to first-party, it received a strong selection of games; one of which has won several Game of the Year awards. It satisfied RPG fans, Action/adventure and racing gamers, gave Quantic Dreams' fans a new exciting game and showed a bunch of indies, plus Puppeteer, which flopped horribly but it is a nice platformer anyway. PS+ seems to seduce everyone, also.

360: 6/10. Okay, but just that, okay. Age is showing, and 2013 only brought Gears of War: Judgment as the only exclusive retail game. Most people stood with digital exclusives, such as State of Decay (which later made it's way to PC), and regrettably, most people ignored Charlie Murder and Battleblock Theater (which is, by far, the best 2D platformer the 360 has ever had.). Games for Gold had a rough start, and while I can't comment for January (which finally gave away a meaty game), seems that it is picking up. The console isn't dead yet, - there are two exclusives coming, plus third-party multiplatform support -, but it is at its last.

3DS: 9/10. Hah, can't even clear my backlog of games because they keep throwing games at me. Quality games, mind you. And they finally integrated Miiverse into 3DS; not as fluent and as useful as the WiiU, but hey, first steps made. Now if they only could put reasonable prices to digital games (They cost as much, if not more, than several retail games!!) it would be awesome.

VITA: N/A. Can't comment on this one. I don't own one and I haven't checked the extent on which it has been supported through 2013. Tearaway looks beautiful, though!

WiiU: 7/10. This console seems to be picking up, fighting the drought. At least it gives quality games, and The Wonderful 101 will eventually sell the console on me. Also, Miiverse rocks as a gaming social media.

Ps4: 7/10. Interesting controller, interesting machine, interesting OS. Too bad it has right now uninteresting exclusive games. We all know this won't be the situation in 2016, but yeah, this is 2013, and that's what we're judging. Thankfully, Resogun has won over gamer's hearts. I wanna try that. Also, I think Knack isn't that bad as people made it out to be. Killzone is a boring-fest, though.

Xbox One: 7/10. Interesting machine, but priced a bit too high, and it still needs to fix certain things. There's more quantity in the exclusive department right now thanks to an arguably better launch line-up, but maybe I am a bit biased because Dead Rising 3. There's room for improvement, but so far it is doing great, and while Ps4 is outselling it, it is actually putting a good fight, which people thought it was totally doomed after that horrible (horrible horrible horrible) reveal...

What do you think?

Wii - Knack/10. What a fail, did it get a single notable release this year?

PS3 - 8/10. The Last of Us was incredible but Beyond and GOW were disappointing with sales and reviews. Gran Turismo wasn't a flop but didn't sell as well as I expected. The Last of Us saves this system though.

360 - 6/10. A pretty weak final year for the system. State of Decay was great, and I really enjoyed Battle Block Theater, but Gears of War didn't do too well. Games with Gold doesn't come close to PS+.

3DS -7/10. I'd give this a higher score if Nintendo could bother to localize some of the damn games. Where's my Dragon Quest VII? At least the new Zelda was great.

Vita - 8/10. Persona 4 Golden, Dragon's Crown, Guacamelee, Killzone M, and Tearaway all helped give the Vita a pretty solid year in 2014.

PS4 - 8/10. I'm enjoying mine but the launch lineup leaves a lot to be desired. Killzone is great, but Knack was a total flop. The controller is great and remote play works surprisingly well. They also gave away their best game for free with PS+. Not bad.

Don't own a WiiU or XBO.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Great idea of a thread!

Wii- 6/10 It didn't have any notable releases except for Just Dance 2014. I won't judge it because of that but by my personal experience, otherwise it would be a solid 2/10. I still use it to play Brawl and Project M released the mod so that gives new things to try out in Brawl. I also played some really cool games like The Last Story and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

PS3- 9/10 It had lots of exclusives! I certainly used it a lot this year! The Last of Us and Tales of Xillia are my favourite ones from this year!

360- 5/10 I don't own one but it sure was a weak year for it. I am thinking of getting one lately though, because it's getting really cheap here and I have lots of games I want to try out!

3DS- 9/10 The 3DS had an excellent year! Pokemon was awesome and the new Zelda game is incredible! There was also Fire Emblem Awakening which is awesome too! This is the year I got the 3DS too! I would personally rate it a 10 but It's still missing something for me... If they had confirmed a localization for Dragon Quest VII and Monster Hunter 4 this year it would have been a solid 11/10 .

Vita- 6/10 I don't own one but this year the Vita did almost nothing to sway me to a purchase. The only thing the Vita has that I would buy one for is Persona 4 Golden. It needs a better year to win me over.

PS4- 6/10 I don't own one but I can sure as hell give my opinion! It tried the console in one of those Sony Stores and the console itself looks and plays nicely. The only complaint are the games though. The launch line up was really shitty.

Xbox One- 7/10 I don't own one and but I'm interested in it. Sadly the price is insane. But it has some cool launch games! I give it a 7 for the effort. I hope the good exclusives keep coming, who knows, maybe with a cheaper model and cool games I would choose the Xbox One over the PS4.

Wii U- 7/10 The Wii U had a software drought and it must have been horrible. Lucky for me I didn't own the console at that time! I got it just in time for Wind Waker! I really liked the games I got and I'm starting to like the Wii U. It started horrible but ended a lot better this year!

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Wii -1/10 Exremely poor year even though it was expected after the Wii U

360 - 6/10 Nothing special (exclusives wise)

PS3 - 7/10 Besides Last of Us also nothing special (exclusives wise)

Wii U - 4/10 Mario the standout, and as much as I love WW, it's not a hardware driver really

PSV - 5/10 Don't own one but nothing seems to lure me towards it yet

3DS - 9.5/10 Standout console of the year by far. What an excellent run it is having! Still haven't finished playing the year's lineup.

3DS - 10/10. Outstanding lineup, outstanding sales. The system of the year.

PS3 - 9/10. Great games, lots of games and great sales legs. It is was still a sought-after item right up until PS4 launched.

XB360 - 8/10. System marched on with strong 3rd party support and continued to be the box of choice for most North American shoppers.

Wii U - 7/10. A very weak post-launch with a low number of titles, it played second-fiddle to the 7th gen machines for most of the year. It did get updates and improvements as the year went on, and sales finally became respectable in November. Some nice titles at the end as well.

PS4 - 7/10. Very strong launch despite a somewhat weak launch lineup. Things are looking very bright for the future. I might rate it a point higher but I'ms still jaded by the annual fee.

XBOne - 4/10. Solid initial sales at launch, but demand is dropping fast. A price that is too high and a software lineup that is too weak/too similar to the cheaper PS4. Things are not looking good.

Vita - 3/10.  Almost forgot about this one, which sums it up pretty well.  Low software support, low sales, low interest.  The handeld market has shrunk, and what is left has been consumed by 3DS making Vita obsolete.  It's a device without a place in life right now, and I don't see that changing soon.

PlayStation 3 - 9/10 - Best year in console's life and just blew me away how many games I wanted on it this year.

Nintendo 3DS - 9/10 - Big year with the major releases I wanted all coming in 2013.

PlayStation 4 - 6/10 - Decent launch, but the future is where it is at.

Nintendo Wii U - 5/10 - Solid finish helped salvage a rough first half

Microsoft Xbox One - 5/10 - Average launch, 2014 is the focus

PlayStation Vita - 4/10 - Some good titles, but still struggling overall

Microsoft Xbox 360 - 3/10 - Went out with a whimper

Nintendo Wii - 2/10 - Nothing here but running on fumes

XB1 - Fuckin 4/10 for being $100 more than PS4...and forcing us to buy the camera with it that can't be turned off...the NSA's dream...people voluntarily putting cameras in their house that they can view.

PS4 - 8/10 meh games...but gets a good score for not bundling a stupid peripheral that most people probably don't want which makes the price of your console go up by $100

Wii U - 6/10 it's doing its thang

The bolded part of your sentence tells me that you don't know what you're talking about.

Last Gen

NDS - 1/10

Absolutely nothing worthwhile released for the system and it sold like trash.

Wii - 2/10

Absolutely nothing worthwhile released for the system and it sold like trash.

PSP - 4/10

Absolutely nothing worthwhile released for the system yet it held its own.

Xbox 360 - 6/10

Not enough exclusives, yet more than enough games to play. Sold well.

PS3 - 8/10

Many great excluvies, many great games. Sold relatively well.

Current Gen

3DS - 10/10

Brilliant year for both software and sales.

PSV - 4/10

Sold like trash yet games continued to be released.

Wii U - 4/10

Quite a few great games, yet it sold like trash.

Xbox One - 6/10

Great opening, great games.

PS4 - 8/10

Record breaking launch despite a lack of quality exclusives.

PS3 - 9.5/10. One of the best years for the console in every way. Bunch of exclusives like TLoU, Ni No Kuni, tales...PS+ instant game collection really shining too.

3ds - 9/10. Don't own one but it was clearly the year of this handheld. Nintendo is really putting a lot of effort and tons of quality games, from Zelda to pokemon and Monster Hunter, just to mention a few.

PSVita - 7/10. I got mine and am impressed with the hardware and functions. I still need that title to obsess me over the Sony's handheld, but it shouldn't be hard so let's hope Sony won't stop supporting it.

Wii - na. Nintendo isn't supporting it anymore.

WiiU- 5.5/10. Nintendo is pushing it and had some great games this year but will that be enough for the console to sell now that it has direct competition on the market? It's hard to see a future for the console, my best bet is that Nintendo should make a new campaign to the console and make a new version with a better hard disc and a better name.

xb360 - 3,5/10. I'm shocked by the way Microsoft suddently stopped supporting their best selling console to date. I think it still has potential and could handle more exclusives, potential hits for a still pricey console. Why MS?

PS4 & xb1 - too early to rate these but both had a great start. PS4 is having an advantage but both will do well in 2014
