It seems that a (very few) people on the videogame press still weren´t seducted by intense shooting with lots of gore and realistic graphics.

Eurogamer giver Super Mario 3D World the title of Game of The Year.

So, all other games released in 2013 are not great when compared old franchise rehashed in HD. I think Mario 3D world is great for platforming and fun but i would not rate this as Overall game of the year as this is not new and real Innovation in 2013 other than HD graphics of old mario series. Everybody thinks gaming is only about fun and they evaluate only that variable for review the game as top and they forget other new things the game can and will be able to produce.

Of course, naming one thing the best means everything else isn't great. Great reasoning, great logic.


@OP: Personally, my GOTY is The Last of Us. But Super Mario 3D World is up there with the best games I've played this year. I can't say I don't see any reason why this game deserves it.

My personal list of contenders:

- The Last of Us
- Super Mario 3D World
- Bioshock Infinite
- Ni No Kuni

Good choice ^^ I shall forever stand by The Last of Us as this years GOTY (dat sweet sweet story telling @_@) but it's a perfectly understandable choice.

Its one of those games that even when your're not playing, its still fun to watch
