Forums - Sales - The real reason why SM3DW has low sales

1 million units in 4 weeks poor sales? By golly the world has change :3

That software drought was the best thing to ever happen to Nintendo.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

It'll sell well. The thing is, when I was younger it took like five years between Mario games. We were foaming at the mouth between entries. Then, between Mario World and NSMB on the DS, people DIED of old age, waiting for a new Mario game.

Now, a Mario game (2D, 3D, or whatever) is an annual thing. I don't break em up into different categories, either. If I save a Princess (or Sprixie) from Bowser, it's a Mario game! And those unique experiences are all too common now. I only finished NSMBU and NSMB2 once. Unheard of for me and a Mario game. I usually replay em like a billion times.

I thought a million sales is pretty good and since Mario has strong legs, it will probably make it to 2 million, if not more by the end of its life cycle... But oh well, can't wait till the day people call 2 million in sales "low" sales

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Low sales?
Slow start, good legs i would say.

the real reason is because the WiiU is selling bad and has a low install base.
SM3DW has a 1/5 attach ratio wich isn't bad imo

WiiU has too many games confirmed!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

A game that is a month old sells over a million copies...since when has that been classed as low sales?? SM3DW is doing well and will be a commercial and critical success for Nintendo. Honestly its time to put these threads to bed!

Selling roughly 1.2m (without digital sales included) on a 5m install base is low?

Exactly how many sales did you had you mind taking into account the install base? 4m copies?

Selling to 20 percent of any install base is usually considered a remarkable success and rarely ever achieved.

You're a little late with this topic....The game stopped being doomed the week after release, when it sold more than Knack.

that is a pretty good counterpoint actually, knack should have sold more since the ps4 has less games
