Tough times ahead. PS4 will probably manage to barely stay ahead of the Wii until Japan launch. At least I hope so.

Wii had supply issues too though. Holy crap, do I remember those supply issues, they hurt so much. I think this thread will get more interesting come Japan PS4 launch. For now it looks like Wii's going to get ahead.

Wii is catching up, though since PS4 hade new supply witch sold out straight away unti lthe end of last month(and still not available in some parts of Europe) i have a feeling PS4 might be undertracked.

The numbers are really interesting. But i think we will see PS4 slow down in the weeks coming given its general lack of appeal to casuals/new audiences. The wii should edge it out over the next few weeks.

Still what an amazing achievement by Sony. I dont think i can stress this enough. I really dont think anyone saw this coming....

The good thing about momentum is that once you got it you can build on it and keep it going for years! So i doesnt matter whose buying the PS4 right now (hardcore sony loyalist fans etc.) the fact that PS4 is all the buzz is the main thing. Looking at the US numbers this week...crazy. Seriously did anyone see it coming a year ago?

I think a lot of people thought Xbox would grow its marketshare this generation...but that certainly hasnt happend.

And then comes Japan with the 1m preorders :P

PS4 is certainly undertracked. Supply has been really tight, but there has been shipments coming in here and there, yet you don't see that on VGC at all.

It's like we're tacking a system that acts the normal way a new system fully supplied would, lol!!

You don't think anyone saw this coming? I have been predicting pretty much accurate results ever since the announcements of both consoles after March. My estimates have not changed even a bit, and every other day, they are closer to the reality. Check this thread, which I had formalized on August 31, although had those projections at least 3-6 months prior.

You'll see how accurate those estimates will turn out given some more time for the dust to settle. There is no magic to it, other than really understanding the economics of the market, and analyzing it without fanboy wishful mindset.

Amazing how PS4 is still keeping the lead despite not being launched in japan yet. Yeah, could be surpassed by Nintendo's wii along 2014, but still a great achievement.
