I know I've made over $700 reselling PS4's and would buy another in an instant if I saw one but I haven't been looking lately, might try again tomorrow as I need to go out and get some Wii U stuff. Demand has certainly died down around here but it seems Sony is really having supply issues.

To be honest I have no idea which part of that is confusing you but I will try to help.

See there is this holiday in late December called Christmas. People celebrate it by giving gifts to one another. One of the hot Christmas items this year was a PS4. There are websites where you can auction off items, like Ebay.com, and websites where you can list items for people to buy from you, like craigslist.com. Using these sites, you could sell any of these hot Christmas items and people would not only buy them quickly, but pay over the MSRP. This is due to something called "supply and demand". You see, when the demand outweighs the supply by a large margin and the products are hard to find, it makes people desperate to get them. Combine that with the Christmas element and hot dog you had an easy way to make a quick buck!

But these sales I made were pre-Christmas. It's now after Christmas, I see auctions and CL postings in my area for a lot less money than I saw before the 25th. Hell, even my last PS4 sale only got me 33% of the over the MSRP amount I'd made on the other two sales. The amount of people wanting the console has simply shrunk down by a large margin. It's not a knock against the PS4, not only is it only natural (due to this Christmas thing I was explaining earlier, please tell me if you need more help), but the Xbox One went through the same thing.

I doubt I would even be able to resell a PS4 now for the $500 I sold my last one for (which is still nearly $200 profit for me), but of course I would buy another one because even at MSRP + taxes amount I am making a cool $100 or so.

My experience selling a Day One XB1 on Craigslist even before Christmas was that nobody called until I reduced it to $470 (over $70 bucks below MSRP+ CA tax).  So that's why I felt that XB1 demand must be really bad at $499, even before Christmas.

Oh, so now you guys are having meetings behind my back.  You guys are a bunch of big doo doo head jerks. 

I would only like to input that I really don't think it's a good comparison to compare a handheld with a stationary console, because for me it's two very different things. They both play games, that's about it. But since I don't even like handheld gaming but love stationary(PC and consoles), to buy a 3DS or PSV is out of the question.

I would rather compare the 3DS and PSV with iPhone and android-smartphones. I think this would be a better comparison, but the smartphones would then again be more of a "handheld PC" rather than a gaming device.

Those Xbone listings are cool but not sure what they have to do with what I said regarding PS4. I never said Xbone is immune to this fallout the PS4 has experienced in my area, in fact I said the opposite. Though nowhere near as bad as that.

This is where the whole YMMV aspect comes into play. It's why I said demand has died down "around here". Some people here like to snap pictures or offer anecdotal evidence and expand it to the entire US/world, I am not one of those people. I responded to someone saying I would still buy another PS4 to resell even though I have noticed a distinct drop in demand, that's all. I could sell them for $600 before, now I doubt I could sell one for much more than $450.

In my thread about the top 15 software of all time, many people wanted to combine ps3 and 360 games in order to beat Nintendo because "It is the same game".

Now 3DS doesn't count despite also being a games console as the PS4.

I had two PS4s in hand the week before Christmas and had to sell them both at cost (430), so I think both consoles were a bust for resellers.

Also, Microsoft might be in a pickle on the 500 price.  On one hand, it was smart.  Why let resellers get all that money.  If you can sell your console for 500, do it.  But now they have to find a clever way to cut the price sooner than later without pissing off EVERYONE who bought it at 500.  Much like Nintendo with the 3DS.

That being said, my prediction is a bundled game with the Xbox one as soon as this spring.

You can count the 3DS if you want but we all know it's severely overtracked but more importantly - it won't even pass the PS3 so why bother comparing it to the PS4?
