Wow Nintendo dominance continues across the pond.

I know Wii-U and Vita are already both basically irrelevant in the UK, but I wonder just how bad it's going to get.

Talking colloquially from retail, my local Tesco hasn't had a Vita game in for about 3 months and their Wii-U selection is pitiful (SW3DW; Mario & Sonic and Sonic Lost World).  And I believe that Nintendo sorted some kind of deal with Tesco to actually keep Wii-U on shelves in the first place.

And things were weird in my local dedicated games shops, too.  Grainger Games had 3 shelves for Vita and 2 for Wii-U recently.  These had both been demoted to just 1 shelf each when I went in the other day.  CEX was even worse - Vita had 3 shelves and Wii-U had 1 previously, but the Vita section was around 4-5 games when I went in yesterday; and the Wii-U section was literally a single game - Batman Arkham Armored Edition.  Nothing else in the whole store.

Granted, I could be getting completely the wrong end of the stick with this and maybe the stores were just completely selling out of their Wii-U and Vita games (so it's actually a good thing), but that seems kinda unlikely, seeing as how GAME had a full selection for each console.

Weird that the UK numbers for the PS4 got adjusted down.  Based on the numbers we got that would suggest a 100k for next week ending the 28th, which doesn't seem likely.  XBO got adjusted up a tiny amount, but it is still too low.  It would need an 85k week to match the numbers posted by MCV, which again seems too high for that one week.

Meanwhile the 3DS is about half a million ahead of the number we got recently.  In that case it isn't just relying on MCV's reporting.  Nintendo financials show only 10.22m shipped to "Others" at the end of September.  VGC has 9.47m in Europe as of September 28th.  The current "Rest of World" number is 2.54m.  I don't think there is a way to get that number for a specific date, but unless the last three months+Latin America make up more than 70% of the total, the numbers don't gel with Nintendo's shipments.

Man I didn't believe all of that 2 and 3/1 sales but now I'm starting to believe that's how it's going to turn out. The PS4 is going to absolutely dominate with no mercy this gen. This gen is going to be quite interesting.

The only things that have become clear to me are that

1. PS4 has Europe locked up.
2. Xbone still has a chance to win the US but will need a substantially better 1st party library because 3rd party gamers clearly dont care which system they play on.
3. Wii U is going to be a massive success in Japan. Its the only console that I see making a real library for japanese gamers and even though games like X and Hyrule Warriors wont be massive in other places, they are Japans AAA titles. Current sales are also very good.
4. All 3 companies have a chance to win 2014. Sony and Microsoft need to show some games. Nintendo needs to make sure that their games get released. As of right now I think Wii U wins 2014 on Kart/Smash alone but Sony and Microsoft could have some killer apps up their sleeves.
