Germany, France, UK, Austria, Italy and Spain represent 90% of sales in Europe. The increase will be minimal.

So if these numbers are within the the normal distribution the ps4 has almost 100% chance to really have sold more than the one this week!

Other thing is that the "Console Wars" has cooled in the media. We here are the only ones that seems to care. Even NeoGaf has been quite. That is because I think a strong milestone like 3 and a half million just after Christmass would be very apealing. I suppose 3,5mi are the largest and fasted sales in history. And then they would have the satisfaction of MS not saing a word for more than one month, may be nothing until Titanfall. That´s it. |
I actually think a 3 million announcement after christmas isnt really that impressive compared to other consumer devices.
1 million in 1 day in the US - Impressive.
2 million immediately after Europe launch - Impressive.
3 million after the Christmas period. after being a month on the market and after luanching practically world wide - Okay...
I just dont see the significance of it...and to me it just doesnt seem that impressive. We also dont know if the 3.5 million (if it even is that) is the fastest in the industry. So whether or not Sony should announce 3 million is debateable. I just dont think it should be automatically assumed that they will do it. Sony in particular has chosen not to make announcements lately even when it seemed obvious like they would. Which is another reason not to expect it.
I swear that I saw people here saying Sony wouldn't achieve the 5m target by April because they didn't have the games for this.
It seems certain for me right now.

Seriously. It's really weird. Indeed, that the Xone and PS4 software have dropped so low on the top seller list is disturbing. The consoles themselves are selling well enough, so why aren't the games? |
People like to look at the boxes and menus. Thats a lot better than playing games.

At the very least it's going to be closer to 6million rather than 5.

And when the Bone IS available in Japan, will it sell well enough there to overcome the Wii U's edge in that region? |
Clearly most weeks it will. PS4 will be selling there and this taking a substantial chunk of the market. Wii U won't have weeks like this very often in Japan and Xb one will be selling in more markets. Xb one has more room for price cuts in the medium term, probably be $50 cheaper by this time next year is my guess. Xb one may also be a bit supply constrained in USA but this week's number could also be a reflection of the real relative demand between Xb one and PS4 we need more databefore we can draw conclusions. Fact is Wii U is weak everywhere but Japan. The true picture for Xb one outside USA can't be known until it is released in all markets. In USA Xb one will sell considerably better than Wii U. I think prospects for Xb one are better than for Wii U all things considered.

Yet the PS2 gen Xbox was still my favorite. Sold my PS2 to get an xbox and loved it. Sony let the PS2 era go to their heads when PS3 came around and imo dropped the ball at the start. I think Xbox has that same mentality sony had going into gen 7. We sold way more than previous hardware so we do what we want and now it will hurt them the first year or two until they straighten stuff out. |
Your point beeing you have a personal opinion? Shocking. I also enjoyed the gamecube more than the PS2, but that doesnt really matter here.
But yes, the arrogance factor always repeats itself (except on the PS1 to PS2 transition). Now the problem with microsoft is they dont have the brand value of Playstation to make a turn around. Also they dont have as mant studios, and they also have to overcome the stigma that once they get you to buy the system they will feed you to the kinect software. They do have the money to waste though.

And yet there are three WiiU games selling better than any PS4 or Xone game in the US...
