First person shooter will not work well on 3DS, lacks a second analogue nub.

mouse > stylo >> motion controls >>> analog sticks

Only for people who lack the skills to know better.  Stylus and motion controls are worthless for a shooter.

You seem to be the one lacking the skills to know better.

One analog stick + movement buttons works just as well as two analog sticks. And the Wii pointer is leagues ahead of dual analog sticks if you can configure its sensitivity. It's a lot closer to mouse controls than dual sticks can ever be.

Or how about if your really good you can play no matter WHAT the control scheme is. Just a thought

Try playing a PS2 FPS and tell me analog sticks are good for the genre. God, I remember when I first played MoH Rising Sun multiplayer with my friend, I seriously almost threw the controller out of the window. I can play with them now, but that's thanks to those dubious amounts of aim assist current console shooters have, now try aiming a headshot quickly with a controller and you'll see it's impossible. Mouse, stylus and to a certain extent motion controls are much easier to play with and also are much more accurate. Sticks just aren't precise enough.

IronFall: Spring 2013

thats not really a FPS

It's a third person shooter in the style of Gears of War. This is the closest thing the 3ds is gonna get, this and Resident Evil.

yeah...still not a FPS though, unless the OP wasnt just talking FPS but thats what we've been discussing the whole time

thats funny my friends dont seem to have an issue with it, never argued that it was worst, but millions upon millions of people do play with sticks, so obvisouly its not that horrible.

No, Metroid Prime was such a misserable experience for me

Renegade Kid is working on it, that's good enough for me. I don't particularly care about competitive shooters, but they're releasing a first-person horror game next year, which is a bit more interesting to me. Then supposedly they'll be working on a new Moon game, which has a bit more potential as the kind of FPS you're talking about. We'll have to wait and see in what direction they want to take that.

Why would anyone deny a potentially good game on any platform? FPS isn't my favorite genre, but if a dev can make one that works well on the 3DS, why not welcome it.

Like I said, aim assist changed a lot of things. Now, try giving a PS2/PS1 FPS for your friends and tell me they don't have any issues with the aiming. Sticks are quite awful to play FPSs, it's just that now you don't actually need to aim with them, simply pointing near a target will do the work for you. The main problem is that you can do all of that without the need for aim assist much easier and faster with a mouse, stylus or motion controls.

i think most of you guys forgot about Cult County, the FPS by Renegade Kid coming out next year for the eShop.

dont need to tell me that, and actually i played quite a few FPSs for PS2/1 and it wasnt that much of a chore that you are making it out to be. Doesnt really matter in the end, people are playing with analog probably more than they are with k/M and def more than motion controls, take that how you want it.
