Forums - Nintendo - Views on Kid Icarus: Uprising

I enjoyed Kid Icarus on NES and thought this would be good considering the rave reviews. Oh how wrong was I. The controls make me want to pull my hair out. It's so freaking awkward and the camera angles don't help. I thought to myself that it might be because I'm not really giving the game a chance so I perservered and went on to complete chapter 9. The whole thing felt like a chore and so I decided to give it to my brother who played till chapter 4 and has never gone back to it since. It's been gathering dust for the past 6-8 months.

Just to add: The 3D effect on this game was completely distracting and was one of the very few games in which I switched the 3D off.

Did you like Kid Icarus: Uprising? If so (or not), why?

I had a blast with it, the controls really urked me until I turned the sensitivity to the max and I never had a problem. The gameplay itself was really fun but some of the level designs were really meh.

Its my favorite 3DS game of all time. Its a SSB shooter! Get use to the controls and bammm! Best handheld game evaaaa (best 3DS game for sure!)

That's the problem though. The controls! You need to use that stand to prevent strain on the wrist. It's the only game on the 3DS to use it. I think I may be overreacting but when a game requires you to use a brand new peripheral specifically designed for the game, it will cause problems.

Still my favorite 3DS game. Played through the whole thing twice. Never had a problem with the controls. Never used the stand.

Did changing the sensitivity help with the controls? Did you use the stand or play without it?

I didn't use the stand, it's still in the gamebox. But the high sensitivity fixed the major problem I had with the controls which was the sluggish and slow movement of the camera.

hmm, I think I might try changing the sensitivity and give it another go. Did you not find it difficult to play without the stand?

Nah, the control layout is very similiar to Metroid Prime Hunters on the DS which I spent hours playing multiplayer with friends, so I guess I got used to it. Unfortunately just like MPH, Kid Icarus broke my L button so I need to get a new 3DS sometime.
