Forums - Microsoft - Was MS's decision to limit the launch countries this holiday to 13 a mistake?

Thread title says it all. At first I thought limiting the countries to 13 and supplying those countries well for the holidays, was a good decision by MS, but looking at how many of those systems seem to be left unsold at christmas, I'm starting to think releasing in more territories would've been smarter. I don't believe the kinect and yield excuses that have been made by MS/floated around the net. Just look at where you can still find X1s in the US:

From my own experience the picture is the same in Europe, X1s are everywhere.

What do you think?

I agree, brick and mortar stores have xbox ones in stock in my area. They should of released in other countries...

based on the shear volume of unsold xbone's in my area,... it was a mistake. they conceded tons of territories to sony that MS didn't release in and didn't even gain an advantage in the US. not a great start.

Apparently MS only wants to win in America...

This but they are losing in America... so people will guess they did  a mistake... I don't have a clear opinion yet.

To be fair it is more about Sony doing everything right than MS making mistakes... if the PS3 launched together with 360 you should be the same situation... 1 year early was the best strategy MS ever did in the console business.

they should have released at least in all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand etc in Addition to 'Merica

Fucking yes. They wanted to focus on North America, but guess what. The XBox One is not doing that well in North America.  MS fucked up.

Seems like a mistake, I went to Future shop and Best buy on the 23rd for some last minute Christmas shopping and there was 5 or so X1s still there in Future Shop and I'd say 8 or so at Best Buy.  Still having so many available right before Christmas is never a good sign.

BTW

Sony expected a demand in US... the real demand is way bigger.
MS expected a demand in US... the real demand is lower.

MS will win America anyway. But they should've released in a lot more countries
