While the generation isnt over and some games are still selling Millions (Im looking at you, Grand Theft Auto V), we are now approaching the end of the 7th generation. I think its time we looked back on the best selling titles be it handheld or homeconsole, multiplatform or exclusive.

This list will be done in the same way as Khuutra's Top 50 Seventh Gen Games list from back in 2010 (I also think it will be cool to look back and see how things have changed over the last 3 Years!). This means that only DS, PSP, Wii, 360 and PS3 SKU's of titles will be used. No PC, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube or Gen 8 systems will be in this list of games. All figures are based on VGChartz numbers as of the Week ending 7th December 2013 and adjustments may happen very damn quickly. We will include bundles, because to not include bundles would make the work far too difficult considering near enough every game with mass appeal gets bundled these days. We shall have no talk of undertracked or overtracked software here neither, thank you very much.

If you dont like these rules then you are welcome go make your own list.

An update to the thread will happen when we next get financial data from the big 3 if the thread is popular enough to warrant an update. Im also keeping the list at 30 instead of 50 for 2 reasons. Firstly, Im not sure how popular this thread will be and secondly, Im far too lazy to go through all the charts and figure out just what games are needed for a top 50 right now.

This also isnt a list of the best selling games of all time over all platforms, because that would be simply far too much work.

With all that out of the way, lets get started.

And with Animal Crossing: Wild World, we come to the end of our list.

If I made any mistakes or missed out any games please let me know.

Have fun!

GTA > COD, nice.

Surprised no AC made the list, probably top 40 at least tho?

Nice thread.

Pretty sure Assassin's Creed 2 is the best selling AC game and it would barely make that 40 with about 10.2 Million.

Halo 3, GT5, Pkmn HG/SS, Brawl, SMG, Red Dead, Guitar Hero 3 and FIFA 12 are all ahead from what I remember looking through. Probably many more I missed.

Thanks!

Impressive, I thought Assassins creed 3 was at 12 million though im probably confusing something though.

Nintendomination!!!

CoD, CoD, CoD.........

Interesting to see the variety of genres/styles of all those Nintendo games .

lol!

Good thread though OP, look and substance.

Nice to see animal crossing in the top 30! Hopefully new leaf can even better this gen.

18 of top 30 games were dominant on irrelevant hardware (16 of them exclusive). Out of the 12 best selling games on HD consoles, there were 7 military shooters of which 6 of them were Call of Duty, 2 GTA games, a Skyrim and a Fifa. Only one game, Kinect Adventures, came from a first party studio.

Thanks for the thread. It's certainly nice to see how things played out in last generation.

Great thread
