As for software, take away bundled games and pokemon and the lists is starting to look very different.

What logic is there in doing that? Is a bundled sale not a legitimate software sale? More laughably, the sale of a Pokemon game is somehow illegitimate?

That said, Nintendo without bundles and Pokemon is still less handicapped than, say, Microsoft without bundles and Halo. Bye-bye, Kinect Adventures! Or Sony without bundles and Gran Turismo... lol, their five best-selling titles.

technically this is wrong because multiplat games are tracked individually on this website. However there is numerous multiplat games like GTA and CoD for example selling around 30 million copies.

And to everyone mocking vgchartz numbers: it serves your purpose when you want to make a point, but it doesn't serve when you don't want to swallow facts ? Get the fuck out.

Best comment ever. You deserve a golden trophy

The table with conjoined platforms was posted so people could stop whinning about mashing multiple platforms together.

Wii alone has many games that sold more than a multiplat title like COD sold across 6 different platforms,

That´s really interesting...... Games that don´t need to be in several different platforms to sell well and appeal to a lot of people

obrigadão ae véio. Valeu =p

75% of the Software list is Bundled. Just so you know. The Nes had Super Mario with every console for ages at one point. In fact Duck Hunt gives that away. Etc etc.

Also past trends don't mean anything. Its the here and now. And right now Wii U is irrelevant. Selling poorly and the consumer isn't interested.

So while I agree Nintendo throughout history have done incredibly well, they have failed to mould to the current era. Its a change in perception from the consumer thanks to other technology changes outside the gaming field like phones etc.

Microsoft were called doom and gloom by analysts when Apple rose up and Google with their on the go OS Andriod and IOS. But Microsoft have adapted and just posted their biggest profit ever in the history of Microsoft. And now a predicted to have the best year ever in the history of Microsoft.

Nintendo need to adapt quick or they will be left behind.

I didnt say it was illegitimate.

And Halo and Gran Turismo were bundled NOWHERE NEAR as much as dozens of those Wii games that either came with an extra controller or a complete console with no additional charge. Wii Sports was bundled with EVERY Wii sold outside of Japan. If Sony and MS bundled their games with every PS360 sold, you can bet that list would have been filled with dozens of Sony and Microsoft titles

PlayStation hardware sells more on average than any other brand. 330 million consoles divided on 5 systems (not counting PS4 yet) is about 66 million sales per hardware.

Nintendo's 650 million sales divided by 14 systems equals about 46 million sales per hardware. So, Nintendo's ''success'' is similar to Wii U's current success - they've just been in the industry longer, and thats it.

As for software, take away bundled games and pokemon and the lists is starting to look very different.

For Nintendo is 14 systems because you are even separating ds from ds lite.

And for sony you don't take in consideration psp go ? What about pocket station ? :p That's two more systems to your equation. Also the first ps3 with ps2 playback and the other one without must be counted as separated then.

Double standards everywhere lol
