Why is the 360 supply constrained suddenly after 2.5 years? I don't get it, but it seems to be only in NA at any rate.

They misjudged demand, they did very well in the US, and sold more units then they had accomodated for, leaving them short for Jan and Feb

I have defended VGChartz on many occasions at other forums, pointing out the website seems to learn from past mistakes and updates the figures when more accurate data is available.

The differences between the latest NPD data are just too big to be defended. I would suggest to adjust ASAP, it really hurts the creditability of the website.

When it comes to tracking North American console sales NPD >>> VGChartz, simple as that.
I find it incredibly strange that NOW, they suddenly don't want to adjust when they always would before.

Wake me if they surpass nintendo. heheh
xD

not bad..didnt they get to 10 million faster than 360?

I don't understand ,,why isn't he changing it? ,,,what does he have against this ??

NPD data are as accurate as they get, even Microsoft and Sony have approved the numbers today

Vgchartz is a retail tracking service that is completely independent. This site has it's own retail samples, and they cover about 15% of the market (Note: I think I remember ioi saying that). That's enough data to make exteemly accurate estimates. Ioi does not copy & paste NPD's numbers, as that would defeat the purpose of this site. If there's a huge gap between VGchartz and NPD's numbers, ioi talks to the publishers and other companies themselfs. Depending on what they, ioi may or may not adjust the numbers. Ioi is not going to change his numbers due to another tracking service. He may, however, use them as tool for other things. Just think of it like this: does Famitsu adjust their numbers because of MediaCreate? No, it doesn't work that way. Both have their own retail samples and data to work with; the same is true with Vgchartz and NPD.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong but I guess it happens because MC and famitsu cover a similar % of the market, while I think this is not the same case. And obviously the more you cover the more accurate you can be

This time NPD and VGC  described two totally different scenarios for XBOX360vsPS3 competition and for DS sales. This is what is confusing people.

Last month's data were totally surprising nonetheless.

ps3 supply constrained too .

80 go sold out

the same for me. I've defended this web as a very god market guide and as very good hardware sales prediction, especially in spanish forums. And this month NPD is far away from VGC numbers and this is hurting vgchartz reliability

still no change?????

Ok i m just wondering maybe it's because NPD will take legal action or something if he uses their data,,,,,,could that be the reason why he hasn't change the data?

People here should really learn to show some patience. The last few months ioi did make some adjustments when adding next weeks numbers. He isn't just going to change them to exactly match NPD numbers, instead he will first look into the large discrepancies and probably contact publishers to find out their opinion on certain specific numbers. Seeing the large discrepancy compared to NPD especially on DS numbers as well as PS3 numbers there is a decent chance numbers will be adjusted.

He has changed stuff more in line with NPD before, and he does pay for their information
