Things I learned from this thread: OP is a doge fan.

The critical acclaim always matters, right shadow of colossus and okami ? "journalist" lol Also, Titanfall is only exclusive for the 1st iteration as far as I know. And it will also release on x360 and PC, so it is not a Xbone exclusive in the sense that there is no other platform to play the game. And yes, I could be underestimating it, but I think that Crysis 3 and Homefront are examples that not always a good game is gonna set the charts on fire. |
Since when were Crysis 3 and Homefront considered good games? Your examples with Okami and SotC stink as well.
Titanfall has acclaim + hype + a giant audience(fps fans) + exclusivity. None of those you mentioned have all that.
That the second Titanfall game will not be an exclusive also doesn't really matter. When will that thing be released? 2 Years, 3 years? Early sales in a console cycle are more important.
Please see the other arguments I brought. Titanfall will sell consoles regardless who plays it or not. The only chance I see this not happening is if EA screws up the launch even more than BF4.
Just for good measure a disclaimer: I don't have an X1 or 360. I will probably never own any of them. I'm not interested in Titanfall as a game. I wouldn't even play it if someone gave me an X1 with the game on it. Everything I said about the game is from the massive coverage about it from the last months since its announcement.

Well and what people forget is the massive marketing steam roller MS is capable to unleash.... That will almost guarantee the commercial success of the Xbox... You don't need to be better and cheaper when you can efficiently support your product with a sound marketing plan...

Wii-U: XOne:
Week 5: 337,425 306,436
Week 6: 216,179 300,762
Week 7: 125,029
Week 8: 49,124
Week 9: 37,621
Looks like XOne is staying pretty strong while Wii-U was starting to drop off already.

A strong marketing campaign only gets you so far.
How are Bing and Surface doing with MS´ marketing muscle behind them ?
Exactly ! You can´t brutforce your product in the market if the consumer just isn´t that interested in your product.
Xbox One = Best selling Xbox Ever. Every week. And with WAY less countries.
Xbox One outselling PS4 in America. And will overtake US very soon.
PS4 is available in over 35 more countries ( And more than triple in EU ) than Xbox One and is only outselling Xbox One by 140,000 / Week at Christmas?????????
By VGC calculations we should have PS4 doomed threads everywhere.
Xbox One is selling amazing in less than 20 countries Wordlwide right now.
Obviously PS4 was severely overestimated in demand and Xbox One underestimated.
PS4 is now available in over 50 countries.

So far yes, and it's likely to beat Wii-U with ease. However i don't think XOne will beat the X360 in the end.

Some complete bullshit you're posting here, especially the Europe part
The X1 is available in the biggest european markets and it's doing horribly there, those 140k the PS4 has sold more in Europe per week is mostly thanks to the big markets where the X1 is available as well. (And where the PS4 supply is still very limited)
And saying that PS4 demand was overestimated, while X1 demand was underestimated makes zero sense. Why are there X1s everywhere if the demand was underestimated? (Today I seriously found a X1 Day One edition in a store) Why are PS4s still mostly sold out, when demand was "severely overestimated"?
The X1 is well on its way to become a second Wii U in mainland Europe, you just need to open your eyes to see it.

Personally I think it will destroy the 360 numbers.
This gen is not just about games machines. People will want far more than that in 2015 onwards.
