They help selling consoles, but linearly on all the platforms. Destiny doesn't give to PS4 any particular advantage.

One of THOSE PEOPLE???? You are a RACIST, sir! We,the Wii U, people take great offense! Toast boy is served!
"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

We will see in a few weeks time, but even then XOne has way more big games releasing then Wii-U had in it's first year after launch. I really expect XOne to fair much better. But lets compare:
XOne had a bigger launch but apart from that day are selling very similair.
With aligned launches the Wii-U sold 330k in the week of 22nd december 2012 and XOne sold 300k in the week of 21st december. It's will all depend on the drop off though:
Wii-U: XOne:
Week 5: 337,425 306,436
Week 6: 216,179
Week 7: 125,029
Week 8: 49,124
Week 9: 37,621
I really don't see XOne dropping that fast, and will probably at the very least stay above or around 100k minimum for the next 3 months.
First Week
XBONE: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41602/Global/ 1133k
Wii U: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41238/Global/ 472k

Second Week
XBONE: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41609/Global/ 430k
Wii U: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41245/Global/ 338k
XBONE > Wii U
Third Week
XBONE: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41616/Global/ 258k
Wii U: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41252/Global/ 559k

Fourth Week
XBONE: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41630/Global/ 306k
Wii U http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41259/Global/ 339k
Wii U > XBONE
Total: XBONE: 2126k > Wii U 1708k
The fire of the hypetrain was off after first week(day).
From 661k gap, cos of a nice start to 418k.
XBONE isnt realy selling better except on the first day.
There arent new games until march right?
Like on the Wii U right?
Lets do it! XBONE IS DOOOMED!
Wasn't the wiiU available in many more countries than X1? It also didn't have any supply problem.
Beside the wiiU didn't screw-up the 2012 holiday season, it screw-up the whole 2013 because didn't have games, that's when it became "doomed". There is no indication that X1 will follow that path.
Not realy.
It was soldout too at launch.
There were the same games with 2013 instead of 2014,
BO2 instead of Ghost and III instead of IV.
except the exklusives of course and BF4.
| gergroy said: I find it funny that playstation fans dislike the x1 so much and want it to fail and vice versa. Seriously, they share like 90% of their game catalogue with each other and have almost the same specs and features. One would think if a person enjoyed one of the systems they would like the other because they are pretty much the same thing... As far as whether the x1 is doomed, the answer is no. Will it sell better than the ps4? The answer is also no. Will the x1 be a success for microsoft? The answer is most probably yes. |
While they are similar, they are worlds apart.

Sales will die down post Xmas for XB One and PS4 supply will catch up with demand over the next few months than the Japan Launch should keep positive press and momentum going. I do expect the next few months to be PS4 domination, but XB One is not doomed. Titan fall will be a good way to tell if XB One needs a price drop. If it doesnt move consoles than I think that shows most people arent going to jump to the XBOne for a new IP. I think the only game I think that will move consoles at $500for MS is Halo, I dont expect a price drop until after Halo 5 drops might as well get those huge Halo fans to pay full price for the first next gen game of their favorite series.

I don't expect the next Halo to be as big as Halo 3. After 1 and 2 everyone was waiting for the new Halo on the 360 and the end of the saga.
Halo 3 sold close to 4m in it's first week on a 12m install base, no Halo game has launched that big after that while having a much larger install base.
There is just much more competition in the shooter genre on consoles these days. Halo is still a big franchise but not as big as it used to be.
