Forums - Sales - Brasil Sales Rankings - October 2013

In the wake of brazillian market as the fourth country in the world in gaming market, and fifth in consoles alone(take that, random europe first world country), it's time to start track down this sales. The data is from GFK brasil, and is publish monthly by veja magazine. They only give us the ranks, not actuall sales off each game(like in UK), and monthly, not weekly. *Wiiu not launched officially in Brazil in october(!)

Last month(September): http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=170873

This month i don't find any data regarding how was october for gaming in brasil. It take ore time that i expected to release the charts too, strange.

Some of you can be wondering why the rank have so much old games, but in brasil a price set a major role when choosing a game. its really hard to find any new game heere selling below $50. Have in mind that our minimun wage is about $330, and the average person have a wage off $1000. So, when a new game of series launch, generally the previous version gets cheaper, and so sells more. This is why rayman origins charted in wii in september(rayman legends), and arkhan asylum showed in 360 on octuber(arkhan origins).

So why PS3 have somewhat more recent releases? Well, there i'm not sure, but i have a theory. PS3 over here is expensive and have no casual appeal(you can find a lot of kinect+360 bundles over here), and is more expensive. So the public of the console are more whiilign to expend money on games, so they actually buy game for themselves, not for their childs.

Well, its all for today. In november we saw the release of PS4, X1 and WiiU over here, so next month will be very interessing...

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I don't pay attention to Brazil.

6 out 10 games in Wii are just Mario related games.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Guess they like dancing :)

Is Brasil anywhere near Brazil?

"just"?

Sorry to say that, but that "fourth biggest market" statement that brazilian retailers and media insist in state is highly questionable.
In that account they include mobile games and gadgets. I´m pretty sure if we count ONLY console sales in Brazil, our market hardly surpass U.K., Germany and France. And there´s a lot of piracy, too, which hurts software sales.

On the other side, it´s true that the market in Brazil really developed well on the lastest four, five years and grew a lot, so much that companies and publishers are officially bringing their products to Brazil, until that we could only rely on imports. Now we find videogames even in supermarkets.

I wonder how much of our market is actually accounted as U.S. sales, since a lot of consoles sold here are still imported from there

Wow, I had no idea it was such a huge gaming market. Plus, it's growing much of it's own fuel, Brazil has many things going for it.

Thanks for the update! Keep 'em coming.

Any chance we could get some volume numbers next time?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

They never tell numbers. I don´t know if it´s on pourpose of if they don´t because we don´t have an official consulting company to track sales

Yeah it's shocking how Brazilians like to diversify their Wii games !
