“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

going by all the comments I guess being called a ginger is only an offensive word in Australia

Not really the hero off one of Australias oldest cartoons is called ginger meggs , historically here  a lot of redheads have been called bluey usually it replaces their christian name , we  also  tend to call redheads , ranga's after the orangutan or fanta after the drink .

Because nerds watch BBC, and pick up on lingo from British tv shows, such as "fap" and "ginger". It isn't an American term, I literally never heard anyone use it until within the 6-7 years or so.

"Redhead" was always the term anyone usually used. Now it's hip to use "ginger", because I guess to some people, it sounds better, and takes a half-second less time to say. Me personally, I've always found the term slightly annoying.

Why do I feel as though nobody would have ever made an issue of this word "ginger" if not for South Park.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

If this is a troll thread then this is brilliant.
