I think I was probably in my late teens or early 20's before I ever heard the word used that way. It was on some show or movie where they called an Australian guy 'Blue' because he had red hair. I thought it sounded nice and it might help that I really like the spice ginger, ginersnaps, ginger ale, etc.

I didn't know it was considered offensive. Although, I may be bias, cause I find red heads attractive.

Sometimes people call me a 'dark ginger' because I've got all the other stereo typical characteristics but more brownish hair.

no. the N word was used to describe slaves of black color back when slavery was around. Ginger is used to describe people with red hair. there is a huge difference. No body is predujice here, you are just being overly sensitive.

this is just me talking and my opinion on it. but i really dont think the mods see fanboy as an offensive word. but they know if they allowed it every discussion would end with "you're just a huge fanboy". and users would use it to call out other users. it would pretty much kill discussion as people would just run around calling each other fanboys. so instead, the mods just say "yeah its offensive" and get rid of the word and lte discussion flow.

tbh the first time i heard anyone describing that hair color as ginger was back in the late 90s when there was a member in the musical band the spice girls was being described as ginger spice! lol
