Forums - Gaming - Why is GAF treating Pachters Wii U prediction like its real sales data?

Here´s another, also from Aquamarine:

NeoGaf only supports w/e its selling/popular, so right now Sony its the popular one, if MS or Nintendo were popular/selling better GAF would be supporting them more and shitting on the other 2.(that pretty much goes to any kind of forum, including this.)

This is how you know a site is popular. People talk about it on another forum.

It's the biggest gaming forum there is. There is a reason why Major Nelson has an account there, Shu imitates their GIF's and insiders from all over the gaming industry post openly and some anonnymously there.

Meanwhile VGC thinks they are terrible.

I actually like GAF.

Eh don't the few vocal ones make you think otherwise. I like VGC, but it pales in comparison. GAF actually does something about trolls, banned forever :)

Only thing VGC has over GAF is the prettier layout.

I'm guessing you no longer have a GAF account?

lol good one.

No i do. I'm not gonna post my account name here though ;)

I know some are using the same names here and there!

Cool beans. Love seeing old data like this specifically stuff that goes back to the N64/PSX and even Saturn (!) days.

If Pachter is off by 100K, it´ll still be less than the Gamecube in November 2005...at that point, the GC was in its 4th year, while the Wii U is still only a year old and on the back of Mario 3D World.

Hoping Pachter is off by like, 300 K.

Actually, I believe VGC and NeoGAF have some of, if not, the best posters on any gaming websites.

However, VGC does something besides running a comptent community, on the other hand, GAF is so popular by just being lucky (and rather restrictive).

Did the GameCube even have anything released in fall 2005? lol. Mario Baseball I think? It was totally on its deathbed by then.

I don't think I've seen Pachter get his monthly predictions right once all year, so I'll be completely ignoring them as usual.

I've never understood why people want to draw conclusions based on such squishy numbers a mere three days before NPD. Pachter doesn't have any information we don't have -- in fact, his predictions are no more reliable than VGChartz numbers, and they have the Wii U selling roughly double what he says in November. Why should I trust either more than the other? I can have an iota of patience and wait for NPD.

Probably the reason I only visit the two and no other site's forums.

Only other gaming site I actively visit is pocketgamer.co.uk

It was indeed on its deathbed, which makes his 150K prediction truly scary...
