I think its pretty clear by now that Smartphones and the 3DS can co-exist. Its why when I see those dumb "Nintendo should make IOS games" I just laugh. I have a Galaxy 3 and the only games I play on it are some stupid field goal kicking game and there is a baseball one that I like, and those get played when I am in the bathroom. Sony dropped the ball big time with the Vita because it had alot of potential. They tried to act like Killzone, Resistance, and LBP are big time sellers, when in reality other than LBP 1, those games were already flops even before the Vita came out.

Yeah, I mainly use my smart phone for playing variations of Bejeweled like Puzzles and Dragons or Candy Crush, with some Tetris thrown in when I am in the nostalgia mood.

I think there will still be a place for Nintendo Handhelds for long time to come. While there certainty will be more niche gaming based Smartphone/Tablets with button controls in the future. I can't see the mainstream top selling Tablet/Smartphones ever adopting button control as standard at the cost increased the size requirements and the detrimental effect it will have on slick and minimalist design they go for with their devices.

That pretty much about it. Nintendo had dominate the handheld market so many years ago and continue to do so. Mainly because there is a strong support in their handheld games whereby their consoles continue to struggle except for the Wii. Don't even get me started on mobile gaming, they suck hard and there barely any real game at all. Just candy crush, temple run & angry birds ( only infinity blade is the game i like most in mobile )

Define "take Nintendo out" and "handheld market" for me.

Give their Handheld's a whoopin.

And with that, Im leaving before people jump on me!

The difference is people buy the Nintendo handhelds because of value and the apple products because of image.   The first thing is real the second is just an illusion.

People buy Apple products because they're functional, inviting, and easy to use for the lay person. That they're stylish is just the icing on the cake.

I like psp go so much!

I honestly don't think Sony will be making a handheld next gen, so Nintendo will pretty much have the market to themselves. It will be interesting to see what they do. They don't really need a gimmick to sell handhelds. All that's needed is the games. (I think that's pretty clear with the 3DS) So it will be fun to see their approach to their next handheld.

I personally don't think mobile gaming will actually completely overrun the handheld market.  Too many people think it without realizing that PC gaming to console gaming is kind of like mobile gaming to handheld gaming.  The main difference here is that "casuals" play mobile, and what is associated with "hardcore" play PC (though I would argue otherwise).  I don't think the serious gamers who play handhelds will give up handhelds for mobile games that have significantly lower production value.

I'd buy a Nintendo phone. iPhone would be dead to me.

If it's plural, you don't have to put an apostrophe. You only use an apostrophe when it's possessive ("Tom ate Jim's pie.") or for contractions ("It's going to rain.") None is needed for a plural noun ("Nintendo sells a lot of handhelds.").
