Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 6 microtransaction pricing revealed - Jag XJ13 - £119.95

The generation of optional micro-transactions.

I guess its a good way for publishers to make even more money, now that there seems to be a combined movement away from online passes.

Like I said before microtransactions should stay exclusive to F2P games.

I don't care who does it, but micro-transactions in a 60 dollar game is complete bullshit IMO...

This is one of the few instances that I think it actually works to a certain extent.  Content isn't stuck behind a paywall.  You can still grind it out and get everything the traditional way, like previous series' entries.

Budgets are becoming more out of this world every year.  If a few people out there want to chip in a little extra, and keep games at $60 for the rest of us, I'm for it.

It's all about the game.

As long as the balance of the game was not altered to encourage the purchase of in-game credits, then I don't see a problem with it. However, I'm not very optimistic about that being the case.

Holy smokes PD. I mean, I know microtransactions are the future, but 120pounds for a digital car? Microtransactions are supposed to be fast and cheap and before you know it you've spent like 80$ on a whole lot of nothing. This is like a serious investment.
Also, poor taste.
PS+ owners should get 20m credits for free imo.

I thought Sony was above this. Soon microtransactions will be mandated in all PS4/X1 games just as achievements were made mandatory last gen. And Nintendo will be criticized for being stuck in the past and not mandating microtransactions in all 3DS & Wii U games.

I don't see how microtransactions and achievements are even comparable? Achievements are nothing but good, so of course Nintendo will be criticized for it. Microtransactions however, are mostly neutral or bad.

Who cares about achievements? Sure, I aimed a little joke at that soft spot, but this is a bigger issue than that.

Look at the X1's launch line-up. Don't all of Microsoft's first-party games contain microtransactions? Don't many of the third-party games as well? Sony, too, is getting in on this. I wouldn't be surprised to see microtransactions become ubiquitous in PS4 & X1 games.

Meanwhile, in Kyoto...

The cars are too expesnive to buy in the first place unless you have 100's of hours to waste on just grinding alone. So it seems logical to either reduce the cost of cars or allow users to buy credits with cash. The main problem with the cash for crdedits system is the crazy price, drop the prices 90% and the complaints will dry up.

I'm slightly confused. Isn't GT6 the 'full' game? Have they reduced the amount of cars and tracks? Is it still possible for me to play the game as I've always played the game and unlock cars with in game credits? I thought the problem with Forza was that they reduced the number of tracks and cars, which suggests they've done it deliberately so they can sell you more tracks and cars further down the road?

The PS5 Exists.

Welcome to modern gaming, where gamers come last. I hope to god microtransactions leave this industry as fast as they appeared. Oddly if you are going to do them so this is at least the best way, you can either play the game to get them or buy credits to begin with. I never understood who would buy the ME3 packages things but I'd guess people did.

Hmm, pie.

More Macro-Transactions hurray.

The real problem will be if they have stunted game progress in anyway, to try and encourage real world spending.

Still i hope the community backlashes like they did against Forza 5, so we see the same backtracking.
