Forums - Gaming - Xbox One/PS4 future comparisons

Xbox fans are pretty adamant that graphics quality between third party games won't be different in the future, and I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet.

Look at multiconsole games on the PS360.  The PS3 is harder to develop for so just about every game is led on the 360 and ported over to the PS3 afterwards.  The majority of games are identical with few better performing on the PS3, some are worse on the PS3 but good enough that you won't notice the difference without a framerate counter or a seeing them side by side, and then there are the bad ports which include some of good games like Skyrim, Bayonetta, and Dead Island.

Xbox fans have bashed the PS3 for having poor ports ever since GTA4.  A game where differences were mostly unnoticeable on a system that was the same or more powerful than its competitor but harder to develop for.  So this time the PS4 is 50% more powerful and you don't think the Xbox One is going to have their own Skyrims, Bayonettas, and Dead Islands?

What I expect for the first couple of years is that developers will use the Xbox One as the lead console and do rush ports to the PS4.  With a console that's 50% more powerful, they really don't have to put as much effort in getting it running well, but once first and second party devs like Naughty Dogs, Quantic Dreams, and Santa Monica start pushing out games t hat look better than the Dark Sorcerer tech demo, what then?  You expect third party devs to still lag behind?  What's going to happen is that the games will be developed for the PS4 then downgraded on the Xbox One to where it can actually handle it.  Some developers may even run PS4 games at lower resolution, matching the Xbox One so they can run higher quality graphics at a lower pixel count than worse graphics at a higher pixel count.  Just like Ryse did for Xbox One.

I'm just saying.  If you think the Xbox One quality of games will keep up with the PS4, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.  Atleast you can always buy a PS4 as your multiconsole system when that happens, right?

You say PS4 is 50% more powerful, but you don't specify units. 50% more powerful in GPU or whatever is useless to the consumer. How much more powerful is the PS4 in terms of important things like characters on screen, size of world, scale, textures, etc.? Speak in practical terms, please!

PS4 hardware advantage will not show in a year or two except in sony exclusive games. Haven't you guys learned this with ps360

Yes I did and I responded to your statement. Just because I didn't agree with you doesn't mean I didn't read.

PS4's advantage in power and architecture means many things. Better AI, more physics, better sound, better lighting. This will result in more dynamic sports and racing games. MLB The Show and Gran Turismo will be capable of thing just not possible on XBO. Gran Turismo will be capable of more cars in a race, better physics, better ai, better sound, dynamic weather, day and night, and the power of the cloud (ala GT6) for real time weather. MLB will be capable of a much better physics system allowing a much broader amount of plays and possibilities.

Non simulation games make the advantage less of a big deal as it really comes down to developer decisions. PS4 will always be capable of more of everything, high resolution and better frame rates. But, like has been said all along, graphics don't make good games. So, what it comes down to is good developer decisions, and fun game mechinics. Even though the same games will always play and look better on PS4, that does not mean XBO will not have better exclusives that are just more fun.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Wrong, you are comparing apples to oranges, the os3 was nowhere near 50% more powerful than the 360, it had a better CPU, but you had to learn hard to develop for it to get anything better than on the 360, the GPU was weaker on the ps3 too.. While the GPU on ps4 is way more capable than the Xbox one gou, and the ram is faster on ps4

I problem with your logic, PS3 was difficult to program for, PS4 is not. In fact PS4 is easier to program for then XBO, so.......

....PS4 games already look noticably better. The PS4 won't need 1-2 years, it's already looking better. In a year or two, PS4 might have A LOT better looking games.

---

P.S. I think most MP games look better on PS3 then 360, enough to say there is a difference (be it minor). However it's just the few games which play better on 360, play a lot better on 360. Skyrim, Fallout, and all of Bethesda's works have less bugs on 360 then PS3, and games like Bayonetta were too quickly ported to PS3.

However to be fair, FFXIII looks much better on PS3 then 360....:-/ Still PS4-XBO will be a noticable gap.

For the average consumer, the craphical fidelity is at such a high level now that they won´t notice any difference. I don´t know anything about how these consoles work, what I do know is that it isn´t as easy as saying "50% more powerful" since alot of the performance is software based aswell.

There is a reason why Blueray hasn´t taken off and eclipsed DVD´s: one part is the digital content age where more and more people streem movies. But the big thing is that most people don´t find a big difference between av BR movie and an upscaled equivalent of a DVD movie. I think the same thing can apply to PS4 and X1: even if PS4 will have better graphics (which I actually doubt at the moment, parity will be the standard I think) most people won´t find that there isn´t any difference at all.

Btw, the whole PS360 graphical debate was silly from the XBox fanboys: the difference was minimal at best in the previous generation too.

Not sure if your dumb or just a troll. Doesnt matter what system you get. AAA titles will look better then each other no matter what spec of the System its on. For example a MS big budget game will look as good as a Sony big budget game. Killzone SF is designed on a more powerful system (on Paper) yet i will bet you that Halo 5 will look better if not on Par on a weaker system.

If you dont see my point yet then simply it all goes down to talent and budget of the game and not the system specs. If Nintendo can make Mario Galaxys on the Wii to out shine games on the PS3 and 360 in graphics then XB1 and PS4 wont have any difference in the big AAA games.

Iv been gaming since the 80s and it NEVER mattered who had the most powerful system. Graphics dont win Console Wars. NEVER did.

BTW the PS4 is 50% faster not Powerful
