Using your analogy with cars, I'll show you where its flaws are. Anyone can go out and buy a powerful gaming computer, or a 350 horse power luxury sports car if they save up for it. The fact of the matter is roads have speed limits so you may never fully utilize that 350 horse power engine that cost you maybe $200k, and game developers will not fully utilize the power of a PC because not everyone can afford one. As a matter of fact, PC is trying to appeal to the console gamers. SteamBox AKA Sbox. You say you don't like compromises, thats fine. Blame game developers. |
The car analogy is a bad one.
Why?
Because with all the extra horse power the PC has... It can be used for driving up the Resolution, Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering.
And if that ain't good enough? Then triple monitor.
Then you have mods, oh the mods. They can turn an average looking game (Like Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim) into something fantastic.
Take Ice Enhancer for example.
You can get stuff like this:
Out of Grand Theft Auto IV. - Heck it looks way better than the latest Grand theft Auto.
Or hows about Crysis 1? Why not use the extra horsepower and give yourself this kind of image quality:
And that is how the extra horse power is put to good use, making your car anology pointless.
