You are comparing a LAST gen game to next gen?? OK.

Also, please tell me you don't think there is not mroe going on in ryse as uncharted? Uncharted has massive draw distances, particle effects, and vaslty more vast moving parts then ryse with very large set pieces. Bullet trails, smoke, explosions,e tc.c...

Uh, I didn't compare them at all except to say both are "on rails, linear".

Also, seems I was exactly right.

It it was backwards day maybe.

You just directly compared them. last gen had way more limits, if it takes x1 a liited, on rails linear game sun 1080P and sub 30 FPS to impress.. yeah you get the point.

UC is also not on rails it has numerous open areas with alrge set pieces, with various landscapes with jungles, oceans, deserts, caves.

No he was saying last generation games like Uncharted and TLOU and Heavy Rain etc were all linear games. And praised for graphics. Praised over open titles like Mass Effect 2, Crysis 2 and 3 and Halo 4 to name a few. Admittedly DF said Halo 4 was right up there with them. But by your logic for not giving Ryse the prize should we not give Halo 4 the prize as best most advanced game last gen?

Like he said. Thought so.

I can't understand most of what you're saying in the first part so I am only responding to the bolded. UC is just as "on rails" as Ryse. And Ryse has large set pieces and various landscapes. Thanks for further confirmation that games like Uncharted get special treatment from you. All I was really saying, your criticism of how Ryse achieves amazing graphics is just adorable.

A game with a framerate in the teens while outputting in 900p is a great technical achievement, you can't deny it no matter what.

Open world shooter, real-time destructible environments VS linear CGI fest?

You must be joking or stupid. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Not really. It seemed ok to agree with DF when linear titles like Uncharted and TLOU were touted for amazing visuals last generation over games like Skyrim or Crysis 3. But now DF say Ryse is the best all of a sudden its changed????

CGI fest?

Where did you get that from? Its all rendered with in engine. And the scenes your talking about are actually not that many. Most cutscenes arent pre rendered in engine, but rendered on the hardware. Easy to tell because you have control of the character straight away often not realising the game has given you control before you realise it has. Its only when it blacks out that its Pre rendered. But those pre renders are still the same assests. Just more post processing. You can only really tell due to Boudicas hair.

"Unfortunately, that brings us to another disappointment; Crytek's stated commitment to "real-time, all the time" goes unrealised in Ryse with the move to pre-rendered cut-scenes. "

Oops? Guess you forgot to read the article.

Baked cutscenes - Check

Sub 30 FPS - Check

Sub 1080p - Check

Linear - Check

The thing is that I have not heard one person on this site that bought Ryse say that the game is bad or they regret buying it.

Realistically, why would you? That group won't say anything bad about it, we've already estabilished that!

Last gen consoles with 512 MB ram and old hardware compared to x1, i don;t need to explain the lunacy of any comparison.

Funny how you disagree with DF's forza analysis, but are quick to jump on ryse's...to make it sound betetr then it is. Ryse doesn;t get any prize, they have not done Shadow fall yet.

Ryse is way more on rails and limited in well, everything. Not to mention the lower resolution and poor frame rate, pre-rendered cutscenes.

Uncharted was on 7 year old hardware 5 times weaker.....Great comparison. There is a heck of a lot more AI (Ryse's is horrid), effects and moving parts on screen in UC then ryse.

Again, it takes massive sacrifices for x1 to put out these visuals, all  well documented.

Uncharted is also a great game, ryse isn't.

"However, despite all the technological finery on offer, the limited and repetitive gameplay make Ryse difficult to actually recommend as a prospective purchase."

So they can't really recommend the game, but if you want to see what graphics will look like soon, play it. Lol.

Basically the game is pretty and that's about it.

"Furthermore, as the first title designed using the latest iteration of CryEngine middleware, it's interesting to consider how it stacks up against previous PC releases. Crysis 3, released earlier this year, maxes out Titan-class GPUs at its very high quality setting - even before higher-end anti-aliasing settings have been engaged. Bearing in mind the gulf in power between top-end PC graphics card and the more lowly Xbox One, it speaks to the flexibility of the engine and the advantages of fixed-platform console architecture."

Dat power/cost ratio. Quite impressive for the Xbox One. This is the main reasons why I say PC gaming in general is usually pointless. You either buy a GTX Titan to max out games that could be optimized for lower-end GPUs, or for games that don't even need all that power. $1,000 wasted.

Their verdict also bodes really well for Killzone as the launch graphics king.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I don't understand your need to crucify this game for something 90% of games do and will continue to do.  From Batman to Uncharted to God of War and Mass Effect.  Half of those things (CGI cutscenes and linearity) are design choices.  Did you want an open world hack and slash? The things you mentioned aren't what's wrong with the game.  1080p/60fps aren't as important as you seem to want them to be.  Why is it that somebody saying good things about this game so troubling for you?  It's not even a great game, from what I understand!
