Forums - Nintendo - In a betting mood: I say Zelda U won't look like the 2011 tech demo

As in, won't be the same art style.

Stakes: 1 month avatar control and an admission of loss in the loser's sig for the same time.

Anyone takers?

When I saw the thread that's what I was about to respond with before clicking. I believe the "next" Zelda wil accomplish this, but the one in question will have a different art style.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

So... are u betting it will look better or worse than the tech demo?

It will of course be better. The system wasn't even out then and now it's been out for about a year (which means better optimization is higher of a chance of occuring makeing the game look better).

I thought the tech demo looked more like an HD version of Twilight Princess with cinema quality models and textures, no?  I guess I haven't watch it in a while.

I'm fine with any style, though.  Wind Waker proved that gameplay trumps photo-realism.

Gameplay has nothing to do with photo-realism. Presentation is a different category altogether, and photo-realism is one option in the presentation category. Gameplay doesn't compete with photo-realism, in contrast toon-shading does.

Sorry if my reply sounds agressive, I just have a very hard time with posts that put gameplay over presentation when these are complementary qualities in a game.

Though I understand that presentation could take budget away from gameplay and in that way they compete, there is never anything to worry about with Zelda, where gameplay lackings usually are due to a lack of vision than a lack of dev effort (aka fetch quests in SS was by design).

I am well aware, and in agreement with you.  I think you misinterpreted my post and thought that I was saying that I think graphics are more important than gameplay.  I was speaking only of Wind Waker, and saying that for many people, who would normally shy away from a cartoon-looking Zelda simply because they didn't like the art style, would be missing out on one of the best games in the series.  Which was the case with many people, including two of my siblings.  "Eww it's a cartoon!" --- I've actually heard that before about WW.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

It's going to be a cartooney art style as always with Nintendo. Gotta hide that bad geometry somehow

I won't bet, but i hope it is darker than SS. And not Toon.

Ehhh... he seems pretty open to fan criticism in all the press he does.

Everyone knows it won't.

I hope you're wrong though, we need a game that  pushes the wiiu, i'm expecting mario galaxy 3 and zelda wiiu to be it, at least some that exceeds or matches 360/ps3 big budget games. the zelda demo was amazing that what wee need .

Now that's an unfair bet! Aunoma already said they're not using that artstyle.
