I'm interested in this game enough to get an Xbox One eventually. Looks good.

Lik i said in the review just make sure you want it now with 6 characters or wait for more content.  That is up to you :)

Since its free with 2 characters then he could have it now and then pay for the full package when it exists if he liked the experience... but Am I the only one that think this free mode looks quite a lot like a demo??? Or is the scope greater than fighting demos usually have?? (Usually buy the game without playing demo, don't have space on the HDD for any demo, have to manage my PSN downloads and erase olders ones or big installs of older games that I won't play anymore)..

It is one chararacter free(Jago) and yeah I would describe it more as a demo than an actual free to play game.  The thing is it does have elements of free to play.  While yes you can purchase the whole game immediately like I did you can also opt out in only buying the characters you wanted.

So let's say as an example by the end of season 2 when they have 20+ characters.  Technically you dont have to own all 20.  YOu could only own 8, or 11, or even 3 if that is all you wanted.  So the game gives you options.  It works pretty well with fighters at least.

I think you can play online with jago. That would be the diference between a demo fighter and this. usually you can't go online without the full version. Still seems like a demo though............not a bad thing when your not paying for it though.

Fot those that do pay for those extra 5 characters and still end up using just jago, I fell sorry for them lol.

I preffer my games as full as possible (if I buy it older then I preffer greatest hits editions - usually the same price)... but in the case of this game and FM extravagant release schedule I think waiting for this kind of edition would be good (of course not considering the real fans of those games because they wouldn't be able hold off... and to make it worse its beginning of gen, so if they skip both games it will have small library to choose for some months)... The fighting games I have, I usually use between 1 to 4 chars to play, but I like to have a lot so when people visit me they can choose or if they complain I know my char to well (when playing with people that almost don't play - myself don't play my fighters alone since ever) then randomize is a nice feature with a great rooster...

Out of curiosity what was the rooster in the original KI and the last version launched?? I still think their price to buy chars a little step - even more when you pay 40 dollars to have 15 chars... maybe if it was 20~30 (probably will happen with time and DLCs)... would be really great if they gave the other chars to people that bought the full package at the beggining and don't milk then for further DLC (that is common with fighters)... At least Xbone fans will have a fun fighter to play before the likes of Tekken, SF, Marvel, etc decides to launch (and by the latest capcom announcements, may take more than 1 year)... us ps4 players will be a little forgot while that, maybe sony could launch all star 2 for PS4 to help us out =]

Nice review. Man, I just have to keep bringing it up, but if it was given more time and had a full retail release, this game would be irresistible!

How competitive it is? For the EVO standards for example... the first KI was not good at this point.... this one is better?

That's largely because of how much of a bitch it was to get a hold of arcade cabinets or decent emulations of them though. EVO as we know it started in 2002, and KI had been completely dormant since 1997.

However, I do think the game has a decent chance of making EVO 2014. MK9 was there for 3 years, a rare feat for a non-Capcom game.

With the review clearly mentioning a lack of content, whether it be characters, modes or even a storyline the 8.5 overall score comes off as incredibly generous. Do we expect in the end you give this an "unbiased"* 10/10 review? Only saying because if something devoid of content gets a 8.5/10, what does KI with full content get? Is it really a perfect fighter?

Game looks incredible by the way, so don't get me wrong, but when you put out the complaints you did and recognize the game for it's obvious faults, you can't go out and give such high marks.

You also need to either lower the background audio or raise your voice when talking, because you did a good review and explained things well, but the low sound of your voice takes away from it a bit.

Looking forward to some future video reviews and keep up the good work. Just do not be so forgiving.

I didn't take much points away from it since we already know there is much more coming and I'm not going to re-review it after all the content is up.  8.5 is primarily because as I mentioned it is one of the best fighters I have played.   Scoring something that is going to be around for 2 years worth of content isnt going to be fair to it knocking it down just for the first month.  In 2 years people will look back at the scores and be like what, this doesnt seem right? Unless reviewers update their reviews, which most will not.

I mentioned the lack of content at launch primarily because it will allow you to make a decision on buying it now or later.  However whether it be now or later it still stands as it being a complex and technical fighter that I would put in the higher tier of fighters like Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive.  Adding more content will only add to this case further.

But thank you :)  Yeah i noticed the audio problem once i uploaded it.  Ill have to tinker with my setting a bit more next time.  Ryse will be up in the next day or two.

@Bolded & Underlined:

Is that wise though? You are essentially rating the characters, additional modes and the story mode as if they are going to be great. We don't know this yet. As a reviewer you are to rate something for what it is, not what you think it might be a year or so from now. They could release Fulgore and he could be totally OP and totally break the online for the game. We don't know yet.

People will read this and think as I did: "Is this really a 8.5 game or does the reviewer believe it is going to someday be a 8.5 game?".

This is a title that should be rereviewed as new seasons release.

You rate season 1 for what it is. Season 2 for what new content it brings in addition to the initial content, etc...

Just a little rant, so don't take it the wrong way. Think of it more as constructive critisism.

I believe it is a game worth 8.5 based off gameplay. This is why I've said it is one of the best fighters I have ever played. And no worries, im not taking it the wrong way xD
