Forums - Microsoft - GiantBomb: Quick look: Watching TV with XBox One

Can't figure out how to embed this video.

It is ~15 minutes long and to be quite honest, it looks very cumbersome and I don't see how it is in any way advantageous to using your standard cable remote.

Anyways, I did not see a TV video posted yet.

What do you all think? Did you also get a kick out of "Ass Attackin'"?

Here is a Gamespot look at the TV functions. Skip to 33:00.

It seems to work a bit better here. Jeff from GB also said he had better luck before, so it might be hit and miss.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I actually don't see the point of it. Am I missing something?

The TV my console is hooked up to has digital TV. To swap to TV, I click 2 buttons on my remote to change to the different output. Is it the novelty of voice controls or some exclusive content on Xbox TV?

Looks really cool to me , but unfortunately the voice commands are not quite at the level we need them to be at for this.

Added Gamespot video. Skip to 33:00 to see it.

They however do not go anywhere near as in depth as Jeff from GB did. They mainly checked in with the highly recognized channels.

I think it is mainly the novelty of using voice controls. Sure it has a view extras like the fantasy sports (Which I believe it only for ESPN fantasy football) but for the most part is voice controls.

I also find it very odd that you can pause, rewind and/or fastforward live TV but can't record like a DVR. That should definitely be a feature.

I don't own a DVR box, so I think it would be cool.

They're working on that aren't they?

DVR? Not that I am aware of. It was only said to have game DVR. For TV you will need to use an additional DVR device.

That doesn't look great. Not that it matters for me, I don't have a cable box in the room I game in.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Cable providers probably wouldn't be too happy if they added that feature. TBH, I'm surprised it even supports pausing and rewinding.

Looks great. The kids are always losing the remote for the living room, this is going to be awesome.
