What is with this crappy argument that doesn't know what the hell its talking about... The games aren't the problem. If anything Nintendo has been better about releasing hardcore games than it has any other generation. Know how long we were waiting for Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii? It was pretty freaking bad.
Third parties? Who the fuck cares, look at all the sales third parties are getting, they aren't what Nintendo fans care about. Sorry to say it but Zombi U and Wonderful 101 are not system sellers despite being great games...
1) We lack casual system sellers. Hate to say it but the Wii Music and Wii Fit type of games are the ones the Wii U is lacking right now.
2) Media awareness. Nintendo has been downright bad about advertising its console and making people aware of the differences between Wii U and Wii.
3) Nintendo has terrible word of mouth right now. The vast majority of hardcore gamers have been badmouthing the Wii for the last 6 years straight and the tune stuck. Now no one wants it or wants to know about it.
4) The tablet is difficult to understand. It's a great idea, but it's difficult to explain. Thus it becomes a bad idea.
5) Casuals aren't excited. You have to light a fire under the casuals to get them and right now the fire is lit for the iPhone, not the Wii U. The sales that Nintendo has right now are for the hardcores. The 30 million that Nintendo had for the gamecube. Not the 100 million it had for the Wii
Those are Nintendo's problems.

Easy now, he has not been on this website in a while. He thinks all of this is new to us and we have not read it all about 30 times before.
Great insight Toastboy! J/K
But we have heard it all before, but I am glad you are passionate about your problems with the Wii U.
Get a 3DS! It is amazing!

The Controller: What is the controller? Is it the tablet? Is it the classic controller? Is it the Wii Mote? Someone who has only seen videos of the Wii U or just got a glympse of it at a friends house will be confused. Does one person use the tablet and stare at the little screen while others use Wii Motes while watching the TV? I'm sure developers have no idea which controller to disign a game for for Wii U exclusives. Which one do people use? Does it depend on the game? I know a lot about gaming and I have no clue. The Online: The online is no where near as popular as the PS3, Xbox 360, and soon the PS4 and Xbox One will surpass it in online usage. Does the Wii U still require friend codes like the Wii? How is Nintendo going to get 3rd party support if no one, including myself knows how the online functions. If developers cannot sell DLC they will not make the Wii U version one of their top priorities.
The Price: I am still confused, do you have to buy another tablet to play others? That has to be expensive. The console alone is 300 dollars. I thought Nintendo was trying to get as much audience as possible and they are just as expensive/more expensive as PS4 if you buy another tablet. Why would someone shell out 300 + dollars for the same graphics as 360 with less games and worse online. Nintendo might be able to do it with killer exclusives but they did not.
The games: Nintendo has made the 3DS their top priority it would seem. Correct me if I'm wrong, Nintendo won't release Wii Ware games on the Wii U because they don't think they will sell well? This is a problem many developers are having. Games are not being made because the console is not selling---------> the console is not selling because there is a lack of games-----------> there is a lack of games because it is not selling
Now with competition coming out I just can't see how Nintendo can get themselves out of the hole. At least the 3DS is doing well, I want to get one myself. |
The controller is an amazing piece of hardware that is NOT required to play the games at all, you can fully use a Pro controller. I really hate that they put the analog sticks ABOVE the buttons, instead of below like the PS3/PS4, which in my opinion has the best button layout. The Classic Controller had the best layout just needed clickable analog sticks. If they ever revise the pro controller to change the analog layout to copy the PS3 I would be in heaven.
As for online goes, wait until Mario Kart and Smash Bros come out, then you will see a dramatic surge in online usage. The Wii was very successful with local co-op and the Wii U continues to be. It's also nice because you don't NEED to be online to fully enjoy the game.
No, other people can use the controller, and they look at the TV, in New Super Mario Bros U, multiplayer is handled by the Wii Remotes, with the person using the controller(Can also be someone using the Wii Remote, and multitask) doing boost mode. For Call of Duty, one person can use the gamepad, and the other has the entire TV screen. For Injustice Gods Among Us, you can see your moves from the tablet, without having to pause the game. For Monster Hunter Ultimate, you can manage your entire inventory from the gamepad.
As far as Wiiware games go, the Wii is NOT discontinued in the US, and you can STILL download those games from the Wii store, porting said games takes money and resources, not to mention you have to re-code the games to offer gamepad support, and any control schemes. They did say eventually that Gamecube and Wii games would be available for download in limited fashion, and they are currently working on SNES and NES games so far, most of which they own exclusive rights to. And a lot of people who had pre-2011 Wii's, you have gamecube support too.
3.7 million Wii U's
100 million Wii's
That is why Wii digital content is not in a hurry to be released, they want the install base higher.

Wow! It's been quite a while that we dont see a "I hate Nintendo" thread.
I was wondering why it was taking so long to see those again
Maybe people were just waiting for the new consoles sales numbers to get more wood for the fire?

I'm going to assume this a satirical post that's poking fun at Nintendo's awful marketing and the numerous ways they're confusing consumers.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
Yeah Nintendo should have waited on the tablet controller then it would have cost 250 new

Dawg I'm a gamer, not really a nintendo fan (Except the handhelds), and I have no idea how their console works. How is a casual nongamer going to know??
@ROL you're goddamn right
don't worry, here comes the Super Mario 3D World!!!
