Nintendo can't compete directly with Sony and Microsoft, They need the casual family friend market.

The hardcore gamers aren't enough to support the WiiU, once Nintendo start making money of the casual market. That's when you'll see more hardcore Zelda and Metroid games coming out. We already have Super Smash Brother and Mario Kart 8 on the way.

Don't forget X and bayonetta 2

I'm waiting for some firm release date... I'm afraid X will be 2015.

Disney peyton comercial is decent, and so the 3DS one, the others, meh.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Then they have a serious problem, the casual market is long since gone from home consoles. They're playing on phones/tablets and enjoying browser games and social games. Nintendo came out and aimed for both the "core" and the "casual" and missed both, now with these commercials, it appears they're trying to attract the Wii crowd again, that was never going to work since the Wii crowd aren't buying home consoles any longer.

Would they be better off simply aiming at "core" gamers from the beginning? Probably not, their lack of 3rd party support and appealing features and original IP's to match Sony and MS and the PC market would ensure that (no, Mario and Zelda do not compete directly with Call of Duty and Forza), along with the tech.

In short; they were screwed either way, the Wii gave them incredible sales because it tapped into a new userbase, this userbase is now gone and everything is pointing towards the "core" gamer staying on the PS and Xbox as well as PC.

I'm assuming your talking about Wind Waker HD.... that game will sell over a millions copies and probably cost less them a million dollar to make.

Why would Nintendo want to advertise a game that's pure profit?
