Forums - Nintendo - Update: 94 on MetaCritic! Super Mario 3D World: A Game Once Doubted Is Now Highest Rated Game of The Holiday! Anybody Eating Crow?

The biggest game this "holiday" will be COD, Battlefield,GTA5 or Pokemon.

imho it'll be 3D World in the family market. The fact remains though that it is the highest-rated game of the holiday at 93 on Metacritic.

How is that even possible? The Wii-U install base is too tiny for it to sell well and nothing is going to make people buy it, not even a perfect 10 Mario. I know some people are STILL holding out hope that there is a magic game out there that's going to propel this console to the top of the charts, but it's just not going to happen. It's going to be a stellar game for those who still love Mario, but it's not going to be Titanfall or COD.

NSMB was the most popular Mario ever released, I believe, and look how to follow up did. If that game couldn't sell Wii-U, how is this game going to do it?

That's only if you don't count GTA5 a "holiday" game....

Since Gamespot gave it a 9 I am a believer, but I have been for a while. Since my first real trailer of it I was a believer.

It could be my first real Mario game in a while. I do not even own my Wii U yet off layaway yet and I have a half dozen games already. This could be number 7.

In theory, by being a geuinely more impressive game than NSMBU, and making the difference apparent via somewhat better advertising than what had come before.

So, super mario 3D world has the highest metacritic. The WiiU hasn't been selling but many people are wondering why. My view is that there are no games that are attracting customers. The expected system sellers failed to perform (especially NSMB), so the answer is in the quality. People are not liking the quality, or the lack of fresh ideas in NSMB. 3D World is showing another appeal. With the quality we're seeing, if SM3DW ends up being a system seller, it could very well be the game of the holidays for the family market. So that covers the NSMB point you bring up.

About COD, COD beats 3D Mario in sales, even was the case for Galaxy. It doesn't make it a better game, it really makes it the most popular. McDonalds is popular, but it's not the best food. So COD being game of the holidays is a debatable point. Also, I don't expect families to enjoy COD together (in general). But I expect them to play SM3DW together. That's why I said game of the holidays for the family market. I don't think Titanfall will do as well as Mario 3D honestly. It's exclusive to the X1 and it's made by EA. I don't think it will sell well at all, but I could be wrong. Also, it releases next march, after the holidays.

SM3DL kicked started the 3DS. Hopefully this does the same for the wii u.

That statement from Edge about it being the first next gen game of 2013 is serious ammunition.

The game really looks beautiful.

EAD are geniuses! 3D land was amazing, and so 3d looks tobe better on every sense... Cannt wait!

If the next Zelda reaches this same level of quality, it will be really hard to resist the WiiU, and, in the name of god, do NOT make a Fatal Frame U, I would have to buy the console for this alone

I would sell my freaking soul for a Fatal Frame Wii U, Fatal Frame 4 and the Wii remake of #2 were among my favourite Wii games.

It would be so amazing, with the gamepad and all...

doesn't nintendo own the franchise? Or was that spirit camera?

Here's the boat I'm in.

I would buy a wii u. However the low sales of wii u scare me a bit. (don't argue that Nintendo will support no matter what. That's not how I would do business, and there's no convincing me otherwise).

I'm waiting to see how this game performs sales wise and how big of a hardware bump. If it sells well I will get it this Christmas. However if too many people do this it creates a circular feedback lab with no progress. I hope people, buy it so I will feel comfortable buying it :).
