But is it not true that the top three Nintendo franchises are a tried and true formula, that haven't been changed in nearly twenty~25 years? Is it not true not Mario is the same exact title? Albeit incorporating 3D, the NSMB games are copies of games from 25 years ago. Zelda games adapted 3D, but the new Link between Worlds game is yet another copy of games so similar to the NES days. Pokemon, pfft. You can't possibly argue that its changed since the Red/Blue days.

The tried and true formula only works and exists because it sells to new generations of children, time and time again. They're fantastic games for new gamers, but I can't possibly imagine how fans could play the same exact formula over and over.

You mean like... Killzone?

It is funny you mention A Link Between Worlds. It is getting praise by grown-up critics all across the board. The 3D Mario games are always different and add something new and refreshing. A big part of the Pokemon fanbase is adult.

That exactly what moreingrato means. All you are saying is of course... your opinion. That doesn't mean it's true or that we can take it as a fact. Those games use a tried formula but they are different. It's not the exact same game!

It's fair to say that Nintendo's holding are in the highest of sales. But that's because their core demographic is towards children and younger audiences, and parents are more willing to buy whats popular (Mario's, Zelda's, Pokemon's etc) to keep their kids quiet and entertained.

From the hundres of videogame developers around the world you can't show a single one that has more games in a top 10 list of all time? (from a respected source once again)

Killzone is a terrible example, because it copies all other shooters and incorporates their features into its multiplayer. It's just a title used by Sony to have a mature exclusive shooter under its belt. In the shooter category, CoD is no different than the Nintendo franchises I mentioned.

It's getting praise by 'grown-up critics,' because thats who reviews games! Not to mention, high scores due to its features for new players and children. Simple tasks for simple minds. There will always be adults reviewing these games; same way how adults make them.

Also, what do you consider adult? I know Pokemon is popular for up to the college crowd, but not beyond that. You have to be diagnosed with a serious case of man-child.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Yes, that's not true.

Sorry, but have to call out this post. If each new Zelda game or each new 3D Mario game are the same, every game in the world is the same. I'm tired of hearing this nonsense argument so often. Each of those Nintendo games is at least as different, if not even more different, from each other then any other game in any other franchise from any other developer.

Probably need to watch some more trailers then.

Later in the gen you'll see why power is needed, when there ar PS4/XB1 multiplats that just aren't possible on WiiU, same as last gen.

I'm guessing you're one of those guys that think Skyrim was possible on Wii.

Xenoblade Chronicles demonstrates that is possible.

Just because two games share one or more features doesn't mean they require the same tech specs. I remember this being argued in the case of Windwaker and Oblivion, a lot of Nintendo fans claimed that Oblivion could easily be made on Gamecube in its time since Windwaker was open world. This is, of course, not the case.

To assume or say that specs have no impact on the development and display of games, especially open world games, is beyond silly. Whether or not you like those games is irrelevant and whether or not you like the platforms that are getting these games is equally so.

Oh, no. No, no. That's totally different. While the premise has a very thin line, I believe watching a film and allowing yourself to be immersed within a game are two, totally different, separate forms of entertainment.

A Pixar film tells a story, where it could be a timeless, ageless, life lesson. However, a Pokemon game for example, you're experiencing and controlling that virtual life which was broken down to entertain the most simple minds. As a child, I'd love the game. But today, I've grown out of it.

And, concerning the CS Lewis maturity quote, it's 100% right. But I'm sorry; beyond college graduation, if you have responsibilities to take care of yourself and others, you won't be playing a Pokemon game. This could be straight out of left field, but games like ones that Nintendo produce are a reason why the fertility rate in Japan is so low. Their relationships are useless when you could live in these virtual worlds and have a so much better, simpler life.
