At least 100-125 hrs in and my DS4 only shows light wear on the rubber. The texture is still there. As for that pic of some guys Dualshock? Ewww. Quit playing while eating Cheetos. That is disgusting.
Like i said in another thread. Had my system since launch and ive gamed more than any month long period before. The controller still looks like its righ out of the box
I and my entire family of 5 people have put already at least 100 hours on our DS4 and the sticks are holding up without issues. If you want to destroy the analogues you could do it no matter how well they are made. Also there will always be a small number of faulty ones. A few negative anecdotes does not make the DS4 "garbage."
my ps4 controller that came with ps4 wore off after 2 weeks or 20hrs of use got another new but havent been gaming on ps4 lately so cant report my findings if the issues is still there. i cant see myself gaming on PS4 till more games come out so it'll be awhile till the new controller gets used currently gaming mainly on ps3

Do you have sandpaper hands? Seriously, there is no way you wore out the sticks in 20 hrs! Maybe a moisturizer would help with that dry skin of yours...
just love the way this thread starts 'i was at best buy today' thread posted 2 days after the official launch, just how many people had been playing in the demo unit when you had your chance to test it, every demo unit in history gets beaten up within a few days on a new console launch though the worst are handhelds especially the DS.

maybe you interpreted it wrong but the rubber on the stick is what showed wear not the whole stick itself. it didnt look as bad as the pics in here or on the other forums it just looked like the initial first layer with the texture was wearing away although i didnt let it get as bad as the pics b/c i sent it back
i dont think nothing is wrong with my hands or even others for the simple fact that these are the same hands that have been gaming on ps3 2 and 1 controllers for far longer w/o any issues on those
i can see that after many hrs that the texure would become slighty more smooth being acceptable but that isnt the case here the initial layer with the texure wears off/peels/cracks

I hope this doesn't happen to my controller
I love the new design though...this controller makes you want to play games! I always felt like i was fighting with my DS3 for some reason.
When i first got my console the controller and sticks were my main concern...but after feeling the sticks and the rubber i was wondering how are some people's controllers looking that bad after such a short time? Feels like decent quality to me.
Sony needs to do some explaining here. I hope they give an official statement about it sometime soon. We shouldn't go easy on them!
Its possible there was a bad batch that went out or it could be something that effects every controller. If they keep quiet about this and don't address the problem head on then it will come back to bite them in the ass.
after about 70+ hours of use on both my PS4 and PS3, there is zero signs of wear. in fact it looks brand new (after i wipe it down with a cloth that it).
and looking at it, and feeling and examining the rubber on the sticks, I cant fathom how people are ruining them. I run my fingers against it, and i just cant see how people are doing it.
the must be some inconsistencies with manufacturing them.
anyway, there is at least a 1 year manufacturers warranty that comes with the controller, use it!
