I was at Best buy today and was able to test out the PS4 they had on display and the analog sticks are garbage is the only way to put it.

After hearing about the PS4 sticks and how they were wearing out very easily i decided to test them out myself.  My test consisted of rubbing the analog stick with my thumb/palm for 30 seconds in a circle pattern, after this time all texture on the PS4 stick had been warn off.  I decided to test this for another 30 seconds, after this time parts of the rubber were clearly rubbing off.  I inspected the controller after the final test to make sure i was not just seeing stuff, but on closer inspection the rubber was looking very rough with flakes clearly falling off.  I feel after another 1min of stress testing the analog stick would be useless for continued gaming.

I don't see how Sony could not see this during the making of the controller or system.  Are the developers using different controllers in their studies?  Did Sony cheap out at the last minute for the analog sticks.  How could something like this happen?

So you decided to destroy the demo model? Sounds like a dick move. Probably a faulty batch as there are plenty of controllers with no issues.

So many people like users and developers using them so far and no big reports of its issues have ever come. Your issue could be on the controller which is faulty or not final retail one. I'm sure that sony have tested the controller for roughness in their lab and been used serveral times by many different  hands, and the problem ones we find could be because of the manufacturing defect.



GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

im not sure what controller you were using then because ive put in quite a few hours already on cod ghosts and warframe which are definitely two games that will test these sticks durability and theyve been a dream to use. Try harder next time.

I've heard about the sticks cracking or something, but what you encountered sounds like a defect. No way would they erode like that so fast.

This is actually a huge issue with the DS4 affecting a lot of DS4s. People on this thread are up in arms about an actual issue.
