No problems since launch, I don't wash my hands either before gaming and like to eat spicy chips.
Doesn't it make more sense that the rubber will stay more supple with greasy fingers...

Sony is apparently doing replacements for the entire controller, but if you have to send it in you won't be able to play your PS4 for up to a week. My goal is just to get some visibility so that they are forced to increase the quality of the rubber for future iterations.
What's the point of getting your controller replaced if it's just going to happen again in 1-2 weeks?

It's a skin condition. I could've cleaned it properly before taking the photo but who cares. And no that's not the reason why the rubber on those sticks is shit.

Maybe there was a bad batch or something. The demo unit at work looks like new even after nearly constant use for weeks.

While im not sure about this being true there are tons of reports about the rubber wearing off on the sticks.

It's simple physics really. The rubber on the sticks is not only thicker but has a lot more friction than the DS3. Combine that with the greater resistance of the sticks and you have yourself rubber that's under much more stress and is bound to show some weakness at some point.

It is okay, when you used the word 'trashed' it is like we are some teens who did it on purpose.  No problems with my DS3/Xbox 360 controllers so it is a DS4 thing. Doesn't affect gameplay but it looks like it is dirty. Will see if it happens with my controllers aswell but I will get a blue one aswell.

They are fine for me and i rage a lot at Fifa and this game is heavy on the analog sticks in general.
Not even a scratch or anything.

But if you hate the best Pad in this Gen there is a solution.
Its called "CronusMax" - A tool running over the USB Port and lets you allow to use every gamepad and even Keyboard and Mouse on every console.
Right now its pretty hard to get one cause the people go crazy over it.Probably to play with Keyboard and Mouse in Online Shooters on Consoles ;)
