1. Sony is back with a vengeance.  The momentum of the PS4 is currently nothing short of astounding.  While the 1 million sales in 24 hours number is impressive Sony could've sold somewhere in the region of 2.5 to 3 million had they provided the inventory.

Surely you jest am I correct ?!

That's unheard of for a console being able to do that! Are you sure this is true ? Have you asked other gamestop stores about this demand going through off the roof ? If so how many ?

I manage a Gamestop store and I echo these same sentiments. If they can get at least one more full size shipment in before XBO hits....... They can do that 1M again for sure. Thats how severe the demand for it is right now. Its all part of the momentum. I imagine XBO can get close to 1M Day one too....but it won't be able to recover from twice as many PS4's sold before it even hits. It may be a semantic but the "mind share" of PS4 being double will carry it even further with the bandwagon croud that is the US market.

I want to know about the statistics. Have you called surveyed enough gamestop stores to say that there maybe a severe lack of inventory ? (By "survey" I mean have you called up about 100 gamestop stores to know if this maybe the case ?)

why does it have to be 100. You can do the same thing with 10 gamestop stores around were you live. Hell,I could probably do that sample myself,but I'm not getting a ps4 until sometime next year. lol

The problem is "10" isn't exactly enough. it only represents an extremely small portion of the game stores and you have to be aware of certain biases too like bigger cities and the distribution of consoles too etc etc.

Well,it's enough if your actually looking for a ps4 and to give you an idea of when you can get one. that's what I was getting at. If you want to do a whole statstics thing,then you make great points.

Haven't done any of that personally. I can only give more anecdotal evidence to this being true.

My store.....Sold out

Ben's Store..... Sold Out

All of my District's Stores....Sold out

The Walmart next to my Store (Which had about 3 times our stock) .....Sold Out

Several Customers have stated they have been through several towns....not a PS4 in sight.

One customer did tell me of a Costco that had over 40 extra consoles. That was on launch tho. Unsure of now. No one seemed to think of going there for one, as opposed to no interest.

Well then, that data isn't too bad but I highly doubt that it will be able to sell 1 more million. 800K more is probably the best that it can achieve from what I'm thinking.

Thats not a unlikely assumption. Just from what I have seen, my store recieved at least one phone call inquiring if we had PS4s to take the place of every reservation we originally had. Pretty sure most of them were different people too. They all seem bent on getting one if it is available. another 800k+ would be just as good.

It looks like we may have a PS1 on our hands then.

The numbers are good, but we should probably wait until early next year to make sure this isn't some kind of "fanboy effect" ala Call of Duty or GTA, where a staggering, huge launch is followed by an incredibly fast slow down in a matter of weeks. If there is any kind of staying power though, you'd expect PS4 to get to around 100m globally. I think it's probably fair to say that there were 9-10 million super dedicated PS3 buyers - those who bought the system at $500 or $600 in 2006 to Fall 2007, when the system was expensive with far fewer games and features than it has now - so you have to figure with the price much lower at launch those are largely the people behind the great PS4 launch day figures. PS3 is still only around 25m in the US, so it's probably not going to be difficult for PS4 to surprass those numbers if the launch momentum continues for a while. The pricing certainly is favorable this time.

I disagree in the part about Sony fans... I guess half of the sales come form non-Sony fans... this consoles will be HUGE.

Is this based on NA numbers?

PS4 = NA
Others = NPD US

Why do you care about what kind of people are buying it lol? As long as people buy it is all that matters!

You post is written from the perspective as though we automatically would know who you are and why you would have apparently have insider knowledge, but your profile and your post does not provide information on who you are either way to support that.
Sony published they sold are 1miilion day one.

Who are you ?

You really should learn to understand we all already know him. Just because you are new doesnt mean you can redicule one of the best memebers VGC has ever seen.

He knows what hes talking about. Because he sells the bloody systems.

It would be nice if he said "for n00bs, I work at GameStop".... i forgot in his last post and was a bit confused

Anyway, I hope Sony can keep shipments coming in while avoiding more brickings. It would be a shame to lose all these potential sales if there aren't any avaliable at Christmas so people get Xbox Ones (assuming there are some of those).

11 days...
