@Arius: Vita is only just beginning a cycle and Sony's cycles are known to be longest out of all companies. Look at how powerful it is; at the rate Nintendo improves their hardware, Vita will likely have enough power to compete with a next gen system. Also, power doesn't seem to matter much, the Vita just needs to be kept afloat and getting price drops until it gets lucky with an accidental killer app.


How is this a dooms thread? I made this thread before the holidays and Vita has GE2+Vita TV and West had the price cut 1st Holiday and great bundles. Not my fault its down -_-

lol! I'm just not sure this years' efforts on the Vita can match 2012's'. Last year we had exclusive COD and AssCreed, both with bundles and White Vita, all that stuff. This year we get VitaTV, GE2, FFX very late, most stuff is JP only and Tearaway that is a new IP and might not have much casual appeal. There's also competition from new consoles that steal the spotlight and might cannibalize some sales.

I know, it's not a pointless thread (mostly joking about your threads), Vita has a chance to beat last year but I'm a bit skeptical about it. It might not happen.


I swear there were like 3 threads with statements that vita this year would outsell last years numbers with ps4 connectivity+ the reasons i mention above. Even Michael-5 10 week prediction thread shows everybody expected 1.5mil-3mil for the holidays! I didn't know it would be off from last year. 

I do get you though, i knew COD+Madden was out last holiday but i thought Europe and especially Japan with GE2+Vita TV would take off! It was an 89k Debut (japan GE2/VitaTV) and i thought it would hold 40k-50k next 2-3 weeks then increase due to holidays but it dropped hard (not the handheld but vita tv!)

Loking at the OP its pretty good! Only thing that looks low is BF 2013. But you never know. It needsi think another 1.2mil-1.5mil to be up YoY

Wonder if the new 2013 will mean higher or lower demand. I'm expecting Vita to be ahead in the end because of remote play features with PS4.

Its down YoY in the holiday period. Also 2013 needs to outsell 2012 holiday (down by around 150k-180k) and sell an additional 350k to get it up YoY from 2012.

In meant ahead in this 10 week countdown sorry. Depending how the new model will impact sales(potential buyers might jump in now because some might prefer the OLED screen.

And don't forget a PS4/Vita should release before the end of the year. With PS4 being hard to find and going for atleast $600 on ebay, people we be prepared to shell out $600 of a PS4 and get a Vita on top.

Might sound silly, but I'm kinda surprised the numbers are as close as they are at the moment. Last year had more momentum and much bigger named games. But I suppose those games were biggest in the USA which, as we've seen, is easily the Vita's weakest territory.

With Vita now gaining ground in Japan and still doing decently in EU (I guess on brand name), I kinda feel it's in a more stable position, but it has become completely irrelevant in the USA (if it wasn't already).

What'd be cool to see would be a regional breakdown between 2012 and 2013 sales. But it might be better to do that kind of thing after the holidays once all the adjustments have settled.
