Nintendo products if they dropped support for the Wii U ?

^^^ I think is already happening.

Did the Virtual Boy stop most of their fans from buying the N64?

Your advice to pull the plug to save relationship with third parties is one of the worst ideas ever. It would actually damage their relationship with third parties more. One more thing... NintendoLife isn't a fortress off irrational Nintendo fanboys. You need to check yourself because you are completely off basis on just about everything and your ideas to solve Nintendo problems would be a disaster. You sound like a terrible analyst that doesn't know shit about the video game industry rather than some so called Nintendo fan.  Is the Wii U not selling that decent?  Sure but it should pick up this holiday season and next year with some big releases.  Best advice for Nintendo?  Ride this generation out with the Wii U and accept whatever sales it gets.

That is why Smash, Kart, 3D World, DKC are coming out.  No support.

Firstly, the Nintendolife comment was partly tongue in cheek. I love the site and the writers do a great job, but I'm sure you can agree you get the odd nutty commenter around there.

Secondly, why would third parties care? Which third parties would care? I'm shamelessly stealing this from Neogaf, but it sums up the third party situation pretty grimly... Watchdogs is the ONLY major third party game coming to the Wii U.

Konami in 2014: Castlevania LoS2 (not on Wii U), MGS Ground Zeroes (not on Wii U)
Ubisoft in 2014: Watch_Dogs (COMING TO WII U!), AC:L HD (not on Wii U), South Park (not on Wii U), The Crew (not on Wii U), The Division (not on Wii U),
Namco in 2014: Dark Souls 2 (not on Wii U), Xillia 2 (not on Wii U)
Square Enix in 2014: Lightning Returns (not on Wii U), Thief (not on Wii U), Murdered Soul Suspect (not on Wii U) You can add FFXV and KHIII onto that.
EA: Titanfall (not on Wii U), Dragon Age III (not on Wii U), UFC (not on Wii U), PvZ Garden Warfare (not on Wii U)
WB: LOTR (not on Wii U), Dying Light (not on Wii U), Mad Max (not on Wii U)
Bethesda: ESO (not on Wii U), Wolfenstein (not on Wii U), The Evil Within (not on Wii U)

Nothing from Capcom, Deep Silver or Take two either.

Sega have a third paid for exclusive coming but they won't care as they've already got their money. Activision is the only third party who hasn't distanced themselves from Nintendo, but that will change after the abysmal COD and Skylander sales.

I agree dropping support for Wii U now would be a disaster. But I think becoming irrelevant and losing all market share in the home console space would be a far longer term disaster.

Nintendo Will not give up on the Wii U.  Nintendo games should only be played on a System made by nintendo.

Why though?

I used to agree with you, but I'm starting to think we'd all be better off if Nintendo released games on a system where they'd probably sell a lot more and we as consumers still get to play great third party games without spending another $400

If not ...

I don't need a cristal ball to see the sales of Wii U. I am not talking about holidays, but the fact is until now WIi U is selling poorly.

I believe that Wii U sales will rise this xtmas or now with Mario 3D Wolrd.
