I can't see how Japan will be a huge factor contributing to 2 million sales or more in Q1 2014, the Japanese just don't care that much about home consoles any more. And, to make matters worse, they're launching after Japanese new years, missing a great opportunity to move a lot of consoles and software.

Bad timing and hardly a good plan to regain the Japanese public in the home console department.

They seem confident, and they should be. I see 3.25mil this year and 4.8mil FY13, depending on how Japan takes it it could be 5mil.

No, the 3 million is how much consoles have been manufactured for 2013. The PS4 is bound to sell out everywhere, which is why they gave that number.

It's not irrelevant, I'm just saying its not going to give PS4 a 1 million push in the first month's release in Feb.

I think your right, has a handheld reach a million in japan within launch? I know ps4 will have a good FW in japan but will it do better than the vita? Vita had i think 340k-360k FW and released during holiday (Dec)

And the PS3 was a flop in that country until 2009 and didnt start selling well until 2010-2011.
