Nice, but Wii U is $300 and PS4+Vita is $600. O_O
Plus, while I love the feature, if it was the best-thing-eva, then Wii U would be selling more.

We're comparing the prices you pay to get the topic feature; double screen "splitscreen". |
I own a Wii U and the fact that I can play Zelda on the gamepad was what attracted me to buy the console so being able to do something similar with my Vita and a PS4 is something which I appreciate. Even so, comparing the price of a handheld and a console versus a console by itself for a specific feature makes no sense and I doubt that someone with any common sense would buy a Vita just for the sake of PS4 remote play. If someone was solely looking for the ability to play console games on a gamepad/vita then I would wholly recommend the Wii U as that would be the more logical approach.

I'd wouldn't say Vita offers anywhere near $200 worth of value. |
You think anyone ever expects you to see anything positive or even objective about the Vita? Your hate for the console is way too evident for us to expect you to see things neutrally.
On a more serious note;
Remote Play is a nice a bonus to have for PS4 and Vita owners alike, but it's not why people are purchasing these console. If the feature was that hot, the WiiU would've sold better than it has been.

You can play Knack co-op with the other player using the Vita |
What knack is doing is just replacing a DS4 with a Vita, and then sending the TV's signal to the Vita.
That's completely different than what Greg's image is potentially referring to.

I'm shocked at the number of people in this thread congratulating Sony for embracing something that was, until recently, an uninteresting and superfluous feature on Wii U. You either like the idea across all devices or you don't. |
Maybe because they're not interested in playing Nintendo games?
That is assuming there is a double standard, which there isn't. That is assuming that they're the same thing, which they aren't.

God knows what value the WiiU offered at the time you bought it then, let alone now.

Let alone now? The Wii U's value improves over time, as more and more good games are out. Wind Waker HD for example is really good value, but I'd understand if you don't agree for the fact that it's just a remake. Still, there's Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, and NSMBU. And then there's Super Mario 3D World coming at the end of the month, and DKC Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8 among other good games coming up.
But yeah, the value isn't all that great, when you concider the anemic game library so far. But it's building up.

I believe the WiiU offers enough value.
I was just appyling his logic to both consoles.

Brendude, you are clearly a smart guy. It's obvious from your posts. Are you seriously telling me there isn't a double standard at work in this thread? The Wii U GamePad had been characterized in this forum as a "gimmick," as an extraneous device that offers uninteresting and unnecessary experiences for too great a cost. Enter the PS4/Vita connectivity and the concept is suddenly brilliant.
I'm just so weary of the hypocrisy. Pixels and textures don't matter, say Microsoft fans, unless it's Forza. The most powerful console is king, say Sony fans, unless it's PS1 and PS2. The Wii U needs better third-party support, say Nintendo fans, except we won't be buying them.
I just want some consistency.
