30. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (21 last year), first impression 8, replay 9, technical 7.5

Pros: Mix and match Kirby powers to create abilities that were unforeseen for the franchise and incredibly unique. The stages were varied, the bosses memorable, the minigames were a blast, and the music was quite varied but very good on the whole.

Cons: Weak platforming compared to most every other platformer in the list, or even other Kirby games (none of which made it in).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

29 is currently the best-selling 8th-gen home console exclusive, though that window will likely close soon.

Nintendo Land

Hint for 29: A controversial game (in the media) whose sequel was controversial (amongst fans) and whose sequel's sequel was controversial (amongst everyone, though I still love it). Controversy everywhere!

Number 30 is a bit of a black sheep in its franchise, which usually features very simple power sets, this one allowed you to mix and match powers and create weird ones like Refrigerator, Laser Sword, Curling, and Dynamite.

Exploding snowman was probably the most fun.

This sounds like South PArk, but I'm going to vote Scribblenauts.

More hits for my other games:

#38 - One of the only games where they managed to make a proper 4th installment on a trilogy that ended very conclusively. I.i. it's the 4th game in a trilogy. The enemies in the game are a type of parasite which spread uncontrollably because the enemy type in the games name have been erraticated. Very highly rated franchise.

The key point in mine was "franchise". In other games, the power-ups were simple, in this game, they were a bit weird due to mix-and-match

38: Metroid Fusion

#38 - You nailed it, Metroid Fusion was the 4th game in the original Metroid Trilogy, a trilogy where all the Metroids died by the end of Super Metroid, thus ending the trilogy fairly conclusively. The enemies in this game are that Parasite which the Metroids ate on their home planet, and yea.

Metroid typically out rated Halo, MP1 honestly did have a 98 before, Metorid 4 > Halo 4, and Zero Mission>CEA. MP2 and MP3 didn't top their respective Halo's though, but it's still a damn good franchise.

  Metroid Halo
Metroid Prime 1/Halo 1 97 (was 98) 97
Metroid Prime 2/Halo 2 92 95
Metroid Prime 3/Halo 3 90 94
Metroid 4 (Fusion)/Halo 4 92 87
Metroid/Halo Remakes 89 82

For yours....I honestly have no clue, I'm expecting you to say piss snowballs and Cow Launcher, that's why South Park is in my head.

Sounds like Grand Theft Auto, but which one? The sequel's sequel sounds like GTA V with the torture scene, that would make GTA IV the sequel. So is this the last GTA before it? (San Andreas) or the last numbered entry (GTA III)?

I'm voting GTA III, it was far more controversial then San Andreas since it debuted the gameplay.

Really? I thought NSMBU was ahead?

That's what it is, at any rate.

Funny, Trucks had the same first impression.

It's not GTA. Every GTA game is controversial in the media. With this series, for some reason, only the first one was (they got bored of discussing it, I guess. The thing they complained about was still there and actually extended in the third game).

What's best about the game, is that each civilisation is fundamentally different. Each with their own units, unit-types, buildings and tech-trees. Within each civilisations, are three sub-civilisations each worshipping their own particular God. For example, the Greek civilisation has a choice of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades as their main God. Choosing a God is half the strategy, as it unlocks specific tech and units and off course, their own 'God-Power'. Advancing ages works the same, but Gods overlap.

This was one of my big problems with AoE2 when I played the HD Edition earlier this year. I've got used to awesome RTS like Warcraft III, Starcraft II, Dawn of War and AoM which have relatively few races, each with a distinctive character and playstyle. AoE2 has 20 or something, but they all feel pretty much the same, aside from some variation in visual architecture and one or two unique units.

AoE2 is still on my list, though. Just below all of those games
